In 1.0.5, the grass tiles got changed. That's the main problem, I think.averaen wrote:Is old RPG not working for anyone else in 1.0.5? I'm getting several blank tiles.

Anyone know a fix for this? I'm not really familiar with the internal workings of ToME and its addons.TheRani wrote:In 1.0.5, the grass tiles got changed. That's the main problem, I think.averaen wrote:Is old RPG not working for anyone else in 1.0.5? I'm getting several blank tiles.

Someone posted a fixed version on the Steam discussion boards.
Have only tested it with 1.1.1

I'm trying this with the current version, and so far it works fine. There are a few monsters that display as letters of the alphabet, and red crystals are a percent sign, but it's much better than it was.PraiseTheWind wrote:Someone posted a fixed version on the Steam discussion boards.

Re: [v1.0.1] Old RPG Tileset & Darkwood UI
hey guys!
thanks for keeping the old pig up to date for me
you can check out some current oldrpg progress at my steam profile here! everything is the same resolution now, and all original work!!
within the next two week ill be doing alot of work on this project, roll out some updates, get it on steam for all the new players, and start getting the ball rolling on the new ideas i've had bouncing around my head for the past few months!
Basically, I want to have two versions of OldRPG from here on out. An up to date version with all the old stuff that people liked, available on steam and here from the website. This version will be completely free to everyone, especially all of the new players.
I also want to finish up and release the completely new and enhanced set, with all of my own original stuff and put it up on Steam for sale (like the steamtech UI). I don't want to charge alot of money, I'm thinking $2.99 realistically. Does anyone think there would be interest at that price?
just to add a couple of notes, i've also decided to separate the darkwood ui from the rest of the pack and make it a different addon so it doesn't interfere with the other UI's out there. and finally, I've decided to enhance darkwood and the talent icons while i'm at it, so maybe at some point there could be another ui available in the steam store. only if there's interest for it of course!
thanks for not forgetting about my pack guys, it means alot to me!
ps - DG gave me a key for the steam version so I can get oldrpg up there, don't tell him it came with the Stone Warden!

Make it $1.99 and you got a deal! (Steam is boring and will charge the same amount of euros, so your $2.99 will become 2.99€ here, and then I will probably wait for a sale, I'm such a cheapskate!)daftigod wrote:

ps. I actually registered to the forums to post this, no other need has been so urgent yet, so you might lso draw some conclusions from this...

Pricing is always tricky - 2.99 seems a lot compared to the price of the full game, but then you're also not going to get the same volume of sales. People *will* moan about it, but then they're likely people that wouldn't buy it in the first place.
I'd say 2.49 as an acceptable amount that won't get too much negative attention. But I'll buy it myself at whatever price you put out :)

Will this be available to non-steam users as dlc redeemable for with Voratun coins as well?

I'd certainly buy it, though not on Steam.

Thank you guys! Weclome to the boards Kalpa, and thanks for registering to post here
I think 2.49 sounds like the right mark, I can't disagree with anything Mr Grey says, ever. Seriously, I've never once heard you give bad advice to anyone new to the community or anyone period for that matter. Thanks man!
Crim - I will definitely be looking into the vortuan coin market for oldrpg, I will do anything to help out DG with his projects and ideas and if getting this together as a DLC would help his marketplace take off, then hell yeah! I'm also planning on giving out a few free copies to those who have been supportive of this project along the way! I really want everyone to be able to have this, and I wish I could give it away for free to everyone but times have been rough lately. I think that oldrpg has enough love put into it at this point that it would at least bring a smile to people's faces and that's what i really want. To limit that by putting a price tag on it really breaks my heart, but I feel it's something I have to do in order to advance professionally. Hope you understand. The old version of the pack will remain free of course
Status update:
-Player sprites have all been redone into a newer, sleeker format. bigger feet, slimmer waists, smaller heads/hair, proper heights and scale, etc. Ghoul face has been replaced and is consistent with the npc ghoul sprites. all pc sprites now have a black border and are generally slightly smaller overall. take a look:
-Talent icons are being converted to a newer format. they now have a dark border and are kinda shiny. they look better at 32x32 and are pixelated at 64x64 like the rest of the pack. here:
-new objects, trying to get something more consistent with the player doll overlays. voratun is going through an overhaul, i'm struggling to find a color scheme i like for it. any suggestions?
continued..

Re: [v1.0.1] Old RPG Tileset & Darkwood UI
-two new user interfaces, brightwood-ui and chrono-ui! brightwood is just an enhanced and recolored version of darkwood. It goes well with wilder classes and thalores
Chrono-ui is a ground-up WIP that i did the other night, wanting something that reminded me of the old square snes-era rpg menus. take a look!
-completely new npc sprites, take a look at the new skeletons, drems, shalore mages, and townspeople:
bonus: ios version

and more to come!
