Draconians! (Fixed by Aura of the Dawn)

#1 Post by Crim, The Red Thunder »

Forking this, and fixing the bugs in it, original work by Ajfluffy. Original thread and addon

I am attempting to keep this as close to the original as possible, just fixing bugs, adding class compatibility at the moment. Later, I may try to create some of the things left in his notes.

Edit: Upload is here. Due to the upload system requiring a shortname change for the fork, I had to register it (again) as (another) new addon. Use this for all relases. Older versions can be found at the outdated link below.

Outdated Versions Are Here

There is also another fork, attempting to reinvent the race into something different, being developed by DarWinsEdge, here.

I wish him the best in creating something new out of this, and hope he gets it going. I maintain this version to keep the classic ones around, for those who enjoy them.

This version fixes nude characters before transformation, updates talents to be .5 compliant, and adds compatibility for all arcanum, druid, and midnight classes, as well as fixes all known bugs.

To-do: Nullpack class compatibility.
Maybe finish some of the dragon types AjFluffy left in his notes.
Consider adopting the scaling changes used by DarWinsEdge (notably, allowing breaths to scale on will/spellpower, whichever is high, instead of just will as it does now.) Thoughts on this?

EDIT: Placing Draconian type chart here, for convenience. I will attempt to update this version of the chart, rather then making new ones all the time.

spell/mindpower is nice. Wyrmic draconians just make sense.

Would you mind doing a write-up on all the different Draconian types?

I can try, exactly what are you looking for? Talent descriptions? Flavored lore? math scaling for talents? Just a general vague descriptrion?

Basic stuff, like for example, what the heck is a Ruby dragon, and how is it different from a Fire dragon?

The usual racial talent pattern seems to be:
T1: active phys power + something (describe the something)
T2: passive resist + specific damage buff + some kind of % immunity (say which each type gets)
T3: passive scales on hit, seems pretty similar across the ones I looked at, tell me if any break the pattern
T4: breath weapon (what kind of damage?)

If all the Draconian types do fit that pattern, then just fill in the blanks so we know what to expect. If any types break the pattern, then go into more detail about what they get.

Cheers!

Updated. Fixes a bug making silver draconians unplayable. For whatever reason the talent icon for Silver body threw an error. No idea why. Big thanks to rexorcorum for remaking the icon, which solved the issue. Also fixed an error no one noticed (obviously) on silver roar.

the percentages chances for rolling a body type thats not on the basic list need to be increased...20 rerolls via task manager and still no non-basic body type(spellsword).

randomness is fine up until the point where it because annoying, after that its just bad design.

Snarky pics of TF aside! Spellsword is explicitly NOT supported by this fork (at least not yet). Arcane Blade is however. If you want Spellsword support you should probably go bug Darwin about his NeoDraconian addon.

Or ask here. I can add spellsword support, I just need to know what dragon types would work for it. Currently, unsupported classes get to choose fire, ice, and lightning, directly, a low chance for earth on random, and a very low chance for multi hued on random. I'm debating changing this so unsupported classes at least get middling chances at any and all forms on random, but at least some of those would have no real benefit for many classes. (for instance, golden form offers some positive energy generation, which serves no point for those without abilities using that resource.)

Should this be done, at least for unsupported classes?

And I'm not familiar with spellsword, what forms should it get?

20 rolls on Elementist, and i see from the file that it is supported....2 earth bodies, thats it.

If you could make a version of the unlock that just lets you choose out of the available forms for that class, that would be nice. I hate randomness in character creation and if people want to choose a useless body for thematic reasons well...let em.

Ice form for your Rogue? Sure, why not....

Spellsword uses Fire,Ice, Lightning, Earth melee strikes. They use the stone armor line for 2nd tier talents(Augur)

Earth form makes sense, as they are 90% melee, as well as any form that supports raw spellpower and they can use pretty much every stat depending on how you build. No pos/neg energy though.

Been screwing around with this some, and I had a couple thoughts.
One, the Horrifying Visage ability you get from going Lich as a draconian ought to run off of mana - otherwise it's essentially free, given that no necromancer talents use stamina.
Two, make sure that Golden is only available to Celestial users with light regen - otherwise they'll never be able to use its very nice T4 power.

Edit: If possible, could you make Archmages (and variants), Chronomancers and Celestial users get their respective start zones?

Racial starts that I know of overwrite class starts. (Seen with yeek, dwarf, undead, etc.) I'm not sure if this is something I can/should change, but I'll look into it.

Currently only celestials can get golden, with the exception of adventurer, for whom everything was enabled. (And for adventurer, that feels like the right choice.)

I never play necromancers so I haven't been able to examine the dracolich form that necromancers can get. I'll look into that when I get a chance.

Also looking into some sort of option that can be set which allows direct choices of forms, compared to the weighted system now. (On = choose your forms directly, off = thematic weighted system we have now) No guarantees I can make it though.

When I select Draconian, the Defiler metaclass disappears from the list of usable options. Any idea why?

Because Draconians can't be Defilers, same as how Skeletons can't be Wilders.
