Re: Nullpack v22: Hurling an Infective
Nullpack v22 released
Minor change:
- the Vector's Corrupted Archery talent now grants additional Vim if the target is diseased. Previously you got 2 Vim per target hit, now you get 2 + (# of diseases * talent level / 2).
With this change, the Vector seems to remain viable through the mid-late game, and ought to get better use from his expensive Curses and Hexes. If you get a Vector to the late game, I'm eager to hear about your experiences!

I think I will give the Vector a try and let you know how it turns out.(Just to let you know I'm new and haven't won yet so don't expect the greatest results

I've been loving the Transcendant Fist, lots of fun!
The only thing I've noticed is that they could use more generic options... perhaps locked Thuggery in place of one of the locked active skills?

Cool, looking forward to hearing about your experience!Forger101 wrote:I think I will give the Vector a try and let you know how it turns out.(Just to let you know I'm new and haven't won yet so don't expect the greatest results)
Very glad you like it!loimprevisto wrote:I've been loving the Transcendant Fist, lots of fun!

Thuggery is too iconic to a different kind of character, so I'm not sure it's appropriate for this class.
About Generic talents in general, I expect some Transcendent Fists to go Antimagic, which will eat a bunch of your Generic points. Some will invest heavily in a racial tree, others might take an Escort tree -- Stone Alchemy is pretty amazing on a gem wielder (especially when you buy your 2nd pair of merchant artifact gloves), Psi/Dreaming is a neat toolkit, and Celestial/Light is quite decent too.
On the other hand, the TF could use another Will-based Psi tree or two. Maybe one of the new trees will be Generic... don't expect it to happen soon, though.

Cheers!

I second the Transcendent Fist.
I actually forgot it was part of the pack until I randomed one up last night. Very well put together.
Before actually looking at this class I had a big "Uh wtf" moment with it and thought this thing was SUPER op.
I used the first talent in the one tree (honestly forget the name), the ones thats basically a telekinetic mind-punch. I mind-punched for about 120dmg at level 3 with this thing. I thought something was broke at first until I realized this tree was my FINISHER tree. I was over-joyed. FINALLY finishing moves that actually make me CARE about combo points. The Brawler could learn a thing or two from the Transcendent Fist. I especially like how mindstar vs gem has no clear winner. Depending on what you're doing you might be better with a gem, other times a mindstar, and its great. Its not like Mindslayer where its "wield a mindstar you nub" just to get the Mindpower bonus.
Also the generic Void tree was looking cool as well. Havent got to use it much.

Re: Nullpack v22: Hurling an Infective
Just had my Vector get owned by Horned Horror. I really like the method of Vim generation but it is too slow in certain situations(e.g. things shrug off diseases a lot or having low ammo capacity). I've played a number of Reavers and always encounter situations with low vim but am able to make it up with drain and vimsense(both work really fast but have long cooldowns). I'm also curious what the %chance for random disease on hit is, as it isn't stated. I'll continue on with my character and see where it ends up. Hope this helps.

Re: Nullpack v22: Hurling an Infective
@Sradac, that's great to hear! Please report back as you progress!
Assuming level > 10, maybe you could pin him before he grapples you, or go for Shadowflame / Wraithform and run away through a wall?
The Horned Horror is legitimately brutal to casters and ranged characters... and the Vector is right in he Horned Horror's maximum pain zone.Forger101 wrote:Just had my Vector get owned by Horned Horror.

Re: Nullpack v22: Hurling an Infective
Yeah, admittedly I took him on way too early(don't play casters or archers much so I expected him to be easier). Still this is an enjoyable class, far less boring than the standard archer. I'll give you an update if I manage to make it past the Master.

Re: Nullpack v22: Hurling an Infective
Hey DoctorNull, not sure what exactly is causing this issue but when I play a Transcendent Fist my combo points don't actually add to the damage of the finishers. Regardless of the number of combo points I have, Far Strike will always list the same base damage. Any idea what could be causing this issue for me?

Do you have a gem or mindstar in your Telekinetic Weapon slot?hoopd556 wrote:Hey DoctorNull, not sure what exactly is causing this issue but when I play a Transcendent Fist my combo points don't actually add to the damage of the finishers. If you have a regular weapon, you get bonus attacks but no bonus Far Strike damage.
If you have a mindstar, you get bonus attacks (which aren't quite as good as the weapon bonus attacks) and half bonus Far Strike damage.
If you have a gemstone or psionic focus artifact, you get full power bonus Far Strike damage.
Hovering over the talent icon while you have combo points should tell you how much bonus damage you get.
Re: Nullpack v22: Hurling an Infective
Yeah it tells me I get 10 bonus nature damage per combo point with my mindstar, but when used with 6 combo points only does 10 nature damage. Same when I use a gem, it tells me 20 lightning damage per combo point yet only ever does 20 lightning damage regardless of combo points used up. I get the same issue with the second skill, the duration doesn't seem to be affected by combo points, instead it increases and decreases based on something else I haven't determined yet. I'm thinking it must be some kind of addon interfering with yours, I'm just not sure which it could be.

Re: Nullpack v22: Hurling an Infective
You can only get 5 combo points max, so maybe the number you're looking at is the duration?hoopd556 wrote:Yeah it tells me I get 10 bonus nature damage per combo point with my mindstar, but when used with 6 combo points only does 10 nature damage.
In 1.0.5 there should be two numbers: the combo point count (which starts at 1 and goes up if you get more), and the duration (which starts at 6 and goes down every turn).
Getting more combo points resets the duration to 6.
Re: Nullpack v22: Hurling an Infective
I'm an idiot, I was looking at the duration. Thank you for the help with that, and please keep up the great work on the add-ons! This game needs more people like you.

No worries, Combo Points can be unintuitive until you get used to the display.hoopd556 wrote:I'm an idiot, I was looking at the duration. Thank you for the help with that, and please keep up the great work on the add-ons! This game needs more people like you.
I hope you win with your Transcendent Fist!
