I do use ID500... I'll try disabling it and see if that still happens.

It seems that this addon still conflicts with Arcanum. (Not a big deal, but Aura of the Dawn tested and confirmed my theory about that.)

Of the two, I gladly ditch Arcanum to use this.

If I may make a suggestion, perhaps having a means to trade an eye-stalk or two for another equipment slot would be quite nice. A cloak should be easy, it would take just one eye-stalk. Boots and gloves would take two. Armor may take several eye-stalks. This sort of trade-off would greatly reduce the regret we feel when we find an awesome item and cannot even use it.

To make this work properly, we would have to have a ability that brings up a menu that we can choose what we want from.

If anything, consider this a long-term project in need of some work. The race/class is great as it is.

Not sure it conflicts with arcanum, arcanum continued to cause failed use of overkill even after turning this off. See my post to the arcanum addon thread. I should also point out, that I experienced no flaws using it and arcanum, that did not occur with only one of them. (Notably, the corruptor issue with arcanum). So it appears to currently NOT conflict with arcanum. Just to clarify.

I'm happy to fix up all conflicts, I just need to know what they are.

using this and ID500, trying to open the ability page with M gives an error with something to do with armor or hardiness.

Worth noting, that my Beholder won't get his quests when I'm attempting to Infinite Farportal.
I assume this is due to me enableing them campaign-side, instead of on your side.

This means he won't be able to eat arcane items, nor will he gain new skill trees.

Any chance for an update in the near future? The Beholder is a crapload of fun hate to see it vanish into obscurity like so many other amazing addons in the past

As the right hemisphere of the "Beholder" braintrust, I can assure you that we are far from ready with it :) I think though ajfluffy is on vacation or something atm, but he'll come back.

Dear fellow Beholders,

noticing the irony in the face of my last post here, I bear grave news for as it seams ajfluffy has left us. His last forum login was in the beginning of August and I have tried to reach him via email 2 weeks ago to no avail. As the co-author (of sorts) of the addon my responsibility is to declare it officially "abandoned" until further notice.

But not everything is lost, if there is a brave soul around, adept in the mystic arts of Code, she is more than welcome to fork the addon and resurrect the Beholder race. I'm eager to provide more scaly visuals and the more or less detailed brainstorming archives that both of us had. So,

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
*Beholder Saviour Wanted*
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

if someone is up to the task, drop a line here, pm me or find me #irc (I lurk there most of the time). Or just ignore me and continue to develop the nice addon, I'm not (too) possessive or something ... :)

Well, I have been asked to continue work on the Beholder race and I can only hope to serve fans well in this role, as well as doing justice to the designs of the original coder.

My suspicion is that not only is ajfluffy a far better coder than I am, he also holds great reserves of code for the Beholder classes left undisclosed to the ToME community at large—code for content just as awesome as the Mage Eye class concept and execution itself was.

Hence, should he come back and desire full authority over the Beholder addon and the creative respect it commands within the ToME community, then I shall relinquish my fork of this addon at once and hand over all content, unfinished content, lists of ideas for content and recognition for said content back to ajfluffy. 3 months in my book is a little too early to expropriate what is clearly a work of passion. That said, with not only rexorcorum but His Tenebrous Majesty, DarkGod himself, having asked for help with the Beholder, I can only respect the pleas for completion of the project from its co-creator as legitimate. And as a fan myself eager to zap my way through delicious, bug-free sprees of laser devastation within the ever-expanding ToME universe of 1.0.6 and beyond, I can only feel inspired to try.

With all that said and done, in the case of relinquishment, I would like the chance to supply a wee addon of my own to supplement the Beholder, or maybe just to work on a dungeon filled with every kind of horrible Beholder sub-species imaginable. For the class, I was thinking of some Corruption / Chronomancy Eye Tyrant, which otherwise I won't manage to find time even to begin with.

edit: More to come, include the first bugfixed update, in time for tomorrow. Get your thinking caps on as to what ideas you'd like to see and which addons you'd like to see it run with!
