Updating Addons: Is there an easy (semi automatic) way?

#1 Post by Canderel »

For me the step by step process is:
  • Open the file
  • Change the version in the init.lua to new version
  • Save init.lua
  • Recompress file
  • Run game
  • Ensure your addons are enabled
  • Create new game
  • Quit
  • check te4log.txt for the new MD5s
  • Upload new files with new MD5s
Many of the steps can be done for all the addons together, but perhaps someone could write an addon updater that could be command line that has prompts
1. Filename (your addon)
2. New version number

and then just updates it for you and outputs the new MD5 to console or seperate little txt file in the folder we're in. Obviously we still have to upload and set the MD5, but maybe the process could be easier than it is at the moment.

Well if the addon still works in the new game version, do you really need to update the addon version?
My feedback meter decays into coding. Give me feedback and I make mods.
