[b37] Inspect Enemy Equipment

#1 Post by Sharzyl »

This addon will allow you to see any creature's equipment when you use Inspect Creature.

Changelog for v2
- Now use superloading instead of overloading, this should increase compatibility with other addon
- Changed Equipments to Equipment

This should go into the main game.

This doesn't really make sense in a combat oriented setting, how would you know what items a character has on them just from looking at them...while they blast you with a spell or stab you in the face?

*doesn't make sense for the main game, not as an add-on.*

Is it more of a stretch than being able to know enemy talents, stats, saves, life...?

This.

Awesome add-on, Sharzyl. It makes me wish that I could play the game through blind, and see all of these cool talents and artifacts on bosses.
Sorry about all the parentheses (sometimes I like to clarify things).

I'm with Zonk and Bricks... Awesome and can/should go to main game.

My only criticism is Equipment not Equipments.

Items also do not show their stats when you mouse over them. The names are usually enough for me to get a very good idea, so it's still very useful to me.
Some of my tools for helping make talents:
Melee Talent Creator
Annotated Talent Code (incomplete)

It's probably conflicted with the gloves stats addon by Dekar (we modify the same Object.lua), I can mouse over any equipment and see the description.
For now, the temporary solution is to remove the glove stats addon.
I'll try to solve this conflict issue by using superloading instead of overloading.

That's it. I'll just guess at the specifics of the items for now, I need glove stats for my sling/punching bulwark, and I know most of the ego affixes well enough to get what they do regardless.

As others have said it makes more sense then knowing enemy talents, immunities, resistances, etc. Personally I'd like the inspect command to take an action. Let players pay for the information. But that's really not a topic for this thread ;)

From a debug perspective though this add-on looks awesome :) No more checking the output to see what items a monster is generated with while building new NPCs :)

The incompatibility with other addon should be fixed by now, use v2 if you plan to use glove addon.

Yes, of course it isn't more of a stretch.

The only reason I want to know enemy talents is because of how random bosses are made in the game (...cheaters).

As for stats, saves, life, and equipment; I'd rather that information only be revealed through some kind of talent or ability or unlock...something earned or something that takes investment from the player. (idk, just my opinion)

Ability-based makes sense, but I feel like it would turn into Cunning/Survival - unlock a tree and use generic points just so you can get minor benefits. I'd never take it.
