Apart from suffocating because I was trying out a breathe in water item (that doesn't let you breathe in sand, even though the air meter is blue in colour) I was saved by my Blood of Life and went on to win. It was especially set up by getting two tier 5 random uniques from treasure chest guardians in Sandworm Tunnels.
Dwarf Brawler win: even beat Atamathon afterwards with the judicious choice of high level items - especially the manaburning item (on melee hit) which allowed me to turn off Reflective Skin, and the Gloom item which prevented the golem from doing much damage. I had to survive a bit before he ran out of mana though. I saved my big attacks for when Reflective Skin was not on.
