OK, I've read that oozemancers are overpowered, but crikey! I am in no way a good player of any computer games, especially roguelikes - but this guy was basically invincible from level 30ish/Reknor onwards (I died a couple of times very stupidly earlier on).
It was my first time in the East, and I literally waltzed through everything, except a particularly embarrassing suffocation death in the Valley of the Moon (not paying enough attention), a couple of deaths on High Peak (one of the stair guardians was some kind of insanely fast orc who seemed to hit me a million times in one turn) and in the final battle (something similar happened, don't quite understand what).
Basically, what did I do right? Did I have incredibly good gear? Did I luck into a good build? I basically just spent the whole second half of the game casting mucus and acid splash, running away around a corner, and letting my endless horde of mucus oozes spit any enemies to death. Once I'd beaten the wizards I decided to sacrifice myself because I was too bored with that play-style to continue.
I think I need to play some kind of defenceless melee character next, just to bring myself crashing back down to earth. Maybe a rogue or something? Also I'm definitely playing roguelike from now on, now that I have seen the lie of the land in the second half of the game.
Fantastic game though! Now for more hours of fun with all the new unlocks I got on this run.

Congrats!
Yeah oozies are on the strong side.
Now that you know the full scope of the game, you can play something weaker and see the difference.
Just one bit of advice: Roguelike mode will not make you immune to those stupid mistakes that you discovered this game. It will punish them severely.

Thanks! Haha, yeah, I'm aware of how punishing roguelike mode will be! But I find it much more fun* to play when I know that one mistake will ruin everything.
* In that special sense of the word "fun" that only roguelike players understand... the kind of fun that involves shouting, tantrums and a profound sense of loss.
