This guy is looking seriously unstoppable at the moment. With both Bearness and Thalorian Woodwrath on the go he is near the limit on Resist All.
He just got him to level 36 and has eaten the bile worm's liver, so he has his last two cat points to spend. I am suffering serious analysis paralysis over this. Options are:
A last inscription slot - but use it for what?
Combat Veteran for the stamina regen and Magic Saves - but this seems like a dull option. Also I have pumped Will which already covers these, somewhat.
Combat Techniques for Rush and Blinding Speed. Thinking forward, I reckon Steamroller would be a fun prodigy for a rogue - I already have speed on a cloak so this would be an 7 character point investment purely to free up an item slot. I already have quite a few movement options. I just transmogged a bunch of STR+ gear.
Poisons - Don't I have enough ways to kill and maim already? This seems like it would overcomplicate things.
Harmony because I pumped will, and poisons have been a problem for this guy - I have plenty of other good stuff to spent the generics on.
I am currently leaning towards Combat techniques beacause that seems more fun to play with. Does rush etc. earn you much stamina through Light of foot? It looks as if these talents are supposed to work together.
BTW it is still not too late to go Antimagic.

Re: Tardod the Thalore Rogue
Hello. Good job getting this far!
By far the best and most obvious choice, in my opinion, is to get a fifth inscription slot and use it for a physical wild infusion (you have a physical/mental one, perfect). I don't understand how you could stay alive without one, it's extremely useful to counter stuns, pins, blindness, poisons, etc, etc. You won't regret this. (I'd honestly change your magic wild into your second heroism as well, you'd be able to chain heroism almost 24/7.)
Last category point I'd invest in combat techniques so you get rush (since you didn't get giant leap).
Side note: I don't understand how you have 5/5 thick skin with so little constitution and would recommend pumping constitution from now on (you really don't need willpower tbh).
edit: please equip that crystalline voratun dagger (and try to use your crystal heart), it will increase your damage so much it isn't funny. It's far better than both the daggers you have on now.

Your posts on the spoiler page really helped with thisSalo wrote:Hello. Good job getting this far!
I have been using the movement infusion to get into fights, which prevents quite a few physical status effects. As long as I keep fights short I am fine, and Hide in Plain Sight makes sure this is nearly always an option.Salo wrote: By far the best and most obvious choice, in my opinion, is to get a fifth inscription slot and use it for a physical wild infusion (you have a physical/mental one, perfect). I may try and source a second movement infusion in place of the heroism infusion, at least until I can convince myself that Run & Hide is not foolproof. (I have some lives to spare, oh but Charred scar!) I will take your advice on the physical/mental wild.
I am glad you said this, because this option looks the most fun.Salo wrote: Last category point I'd invest in combat techniques so you get rush (since you didn't get giant leap).
BTW I made some mistakes with this guy already, but I do not regret taking Windblade at all. It instakills everything in range that's not a boss!
Accepted, the Will hasn't done that much for me. I got muddled about what talents it boosts. (Also, had half an eye on Wild/Antimagic talents, though I'm not going down that road now.)Salo wrote: Side note: I don't understand how you have 5/5 thick skin with so little constitution and would recommend pumping constitution from now on (you really don't need willpower tbh).

The Crystalline dagger looks like a no-brainer doesn't it? The main reason I am wielding Moon at the moment is for the STR boost, so I can carry more useless crap about.
Shantiz was so cool when I got it, I am reluctant to let it go. If I do replace it I may keep it with the sling for quick swapout and stat boost.
Thank's for the advice, this looks really solid and helpful.
Re: Tardod the Thalore Rogue
Oh, I certainly did not want to imply that your prodigy choice was bad. Windblade is extremely strong and certainly not a bad choice at all. I was merely pointing out that rush is more useful for rogues without giant leap. Either way, don't worry too much about getting the perfect ultimate build, if you do something a bit suboptimal it just means you have to compensate by playing better. While there are a few things that seem to make a bit suboptimal (in my opinion), it just makes me think that you must have been playing really well to get so far despite them.

Re: Tardod the Thalore Rogue - WIN
I WON [If anything it was too easy.]
The Crystaline Dagger hits hard, but more important, it hits with Arcane. The Mandible has an awesome power on it for a rogue.
I was very happy to get the Combat Techniques tree, not so much for Rush as for Blinding Speed. Together with Momentum and a ring of Focus I had +55% global speed, +85% combat speed and 60% chance for a second strike. These all add up to an awesome attack rate!
Rush is fun, but not always the best way to start a fight. Rush gives a chance to be spotted before you land the first blow. Mobility + Deadly Strikes + Windblade, allows you a chance to take out a mob with no comeback.
---
Once you get Hide in Plain Sight, there are few serious threats.
Running out of mobility is one. I got tired of picking off stragglers in the Vor armoury and decided just to rush in and paddle the rest. Wound up in overlapping puddles of fire and ice, and was lucky to drag myself to a blind spot to hide & heal up.
Sometimes critters can hurt each other, which means that hiding, doesn't stop them moving around. This was my second death. I poked my head into a vault, only to wake everything in there. They flooded the level, but they wound up chasing (and not attacking) one of their own.
I took Steamroller as a second talent, which was a lot of fun. I thought it might cost me a life, by tempting too deep into the fray, but that never happened. Track means there are no surprises outside of vaults, and these are mostly parcelled up into bite-sized chunks.
The last big threat is 'damage done when hit in melee'. I was pretty diligent about looking this up for anything at all scary. Then a unque hit me with "Aura of Martyrdom" which could easily have killed me before I realized what was going on.
Oh, no there are more. I lost my first life trying to protect an escort against a powerful unique. I got an Anorthil escort on level 2 of Dreadfell, and immediately we were pinned down by bad guys. Iveldalaith the "lesser" vampire came at us from miles off. I don't know how he knew we were there at all. In order to stop the escort running off I started a two step move to block him off in a blind-alley. After step one the **** cast mudslide, killing my escort and pushing me to the end of said alleyway. The rest of the fight was desperate and short.

Tardod's relationship with Melinda has stalled, and I think it may be too late to save things. I don't want to go into details because it is a private matter and, you know, *spoilers*. He visited after coming back from the East and found that there was a plot thread I had not seen before. I was hoping there would be a chance to complete this before High Peak, but she still had "stuff to work out". Tardod is now maximum level, and has saved the world, and she is still stalling. Maybe if he had been a more attentive lover there would have been time to work things out.
