First Winner Dwarf Doomed (adventure)

#1 Post by cttw »

After many attempts and learning and reading threads finally I got to kill the wizards on the last life of my Dwarf Doomed.

http://te4.org/characters/7470/tome/e67 ... f9392eedab

I focused early on Hateful Whisper and Blast, with one point in Deflection, Willful Strike, and Reproach and 3 points on call shadows. Then I pumped shadow mages to 4, to get the reform ability and cost less hate. Then I maxed Unseen Force and put the last points in blast and hateful whisper. Category point into Force of Will. Then I maxed call shadows, and by the time I had maxed Dark Torrent I had also got the all mind damage prodigy and maxed Madness. Then maxed Willful Strike and reproach, an then Creeping darkness towards the end, and Dark Tendrils that ended up not being needed.

As for Generics, I go anti-magic at lvl 12, before the first set of 4 dungeons, after doing all the starter dungeons. At lvl 20 I pick up Fungus, the goal being at least lvl 3 magic shield and lvl 3 fungus/ancestral life. This takes quite a while, with a long pause to max Power is Money. Once it gets going, it's powerful. Also maxed gesture of guarding early as it is easier than getting physical resist. Was still vulnerable to archers, but took care of that by killing archers first.

Took spell feedback as 2nd prodigy. Considered some sort of healing or status effect prodigy but I was having no problem with either of that. I was running 2 healing infusions on autocast and had 2 lvls of equilibrium-power heal from escorts. By then pretty much every spell cast 1000 mind damage or so, from whisper to blast, willfull strike and the unseen force hits. I had good +mind damage and very high mind damage penetration. When it went critical, which by then was about 50% of the time, it would do 2000 or so damage, almost 3000 if they gave into madness, and 4-5k if all went perfect and they got hit twice by the same Blast. I plowed through pretty much everything, dying to lack of attention and carelessness. But still made it to High Peak with my last life. The way up was trivial, I nuked everything with mind damage, gestured away 38% of the melee attacks (1 category point into gestures) and leveld up curses.

By the final battle I had maxed Curse of Shrouds 5 and Curse of Nightmares 4. Shrouds was my goal, and at 5 the bonus becomes 20%. So 20% resist all for having killed recently, and another 20% resist all from having just moved. It's hard to say how useful that was, as few things managed to damage me enough to overcome my regeneration. It still costs 9 generics in a class that needs a lot of them. It was a final investment, and only worked because I was very sparing with my generics and got the alchemist potions right.

The final battle itself was the most trivial, maybe. Me and the paladin started near the mages. I Spellhunt-remanants Elandar, and get about half of his sustains down. Then a few starter hits while the bonuses build up for blast. Used the ability of the mindstar Nexus of the Way to call mindslayers, so he was surrounded by those and shadows. By the time the other mage was getting close, I blasted. By the time the daze passed, Elandar was dead. It just took a few more casts but 1k damage per hit or more does the job. My health never went down more than 200hp. The other mage was rolled over. The Paladin survived and the fight ended by the time the first creatures had come from the portals.

As for items, I found a light armor of telepathy - all in the 30's and the Nexus of the Way. This mindstar is awesome and the mindslayers outlasted everything I summoned them against. Bought 2 4k gold items from the shop but they were not too good. I also managed to get Limmir's Amulet of the Moon with 2 damage and critical raising gems for +18% damage and +9% crit.
