[b40] Mindslayer Winner - With inspiration from Lukep's Bob!

#1 Post by jenx »

Here is my winning Cornac Mindslayer, inspired by lukep's account of Bob the Cornac Mindslayer.

The character sheet doesn't tell the whole story. It fails to mention the following cool points:
  • I had 100% Mental Critical Hit rate
  • I had 254% Crit hit multiplier (and 33% physical dmg - I could get to 48% physical damage and 98% crit hit if I wanted)
  • I had dreamers and epiphanous together, which gives 0.6 Psi/turn AND +5 Psi per critical hit
  • Thus I had 5.6 Psi per turn in theory, but this turned out not to work - it's a BUG
  • However, I only got this combo in lvl 10 of High Peak !!!!!!!! - when I found the epiphanous mindstar
  • I also had 11.8 regen per turn, which meant a regen infusion gave me about 250 hp per turn when on
  • When an NPC bumped into me, it did about 250 dmg without me lifting a finger! And that was only having charged aura on. Mindstars and % increases in dmg help you get big numbers here.
  • I must confess also, I had no rare elites addon - as I think b40 is too annoying difficult with them at the moment
The Achievements how that I finally beat Atamatathon !!!! For the first time.

Another interesting thing is that I barely used shields in the whole game. I used Charged Aura and Mindlash basically throughout.

I prefered mindstars of clarity mostly, to get the extra Psi, which runs out very quickly otherwise.

If you play carefully and patiently, you don't need Iron Will, freeing up 4 extra generics.

I also tried to get lifebinding emerald (as Lukep did), but never got it in time, so next time, I'd just get elixir of foundations instead.

There should also be an elixir to give mental crit.

I followed Lukep's tip to get Telos Top Half Staff, and changed it to physical, but consistently I found that I could do better with a mindstar set, particularly with resists, stun immunity, etc.

So I wouldn't bother with that again.

And that I won the final battle without closing any portals (For the second time I think).

In terms of building, I went all out for WIL, and then WIL+CON and then CON and then all into CUN, and then the remainder into STR. I took resist at every stage I could.

Now, I'm going to attempt it again on roguelike, with no addons. See how long I last!

A great game!!!!!!!
MADNESS rocks
