actually no, they can spend the 50g on it too and get it, at least this was the case and I dont think it was changed.

50g isn't free. I'd rather spend the talent category point than farm gold, even if it is worse for a perfectly min-maxed grinding/farming character in the long term.

Nice post!
And well done!

Ok maybe insane mode is not insane enough, if people won .. Oh but you were cheating! I dont think the difficulty setting works on summons! Ohhh must fix! :)

As for your comments on the summons:
- I'll make the fire drake immune to fire and I'll check it's breath
- I'll try to find why minotaur do not get a weapon they really should ..
- Maybe turtle could get a "shell shield" ability that temporarily reduces damage taken by X% ?
- I'll probably redo spider to be based on the now existing spider monsters
- Control summon "Some very serious targeting issues and other bugs plague this ability", what exactly ?

I am happy you like summoners, it was kinda hard to think of a good system that was not cheesy as T2 one was :)

Do you have more info on the minotaur ? Any special situations where he did not get its weapon ? a zone ?

I'm not sure that "everything except hydras is worthless at higher level" counts as a good system. When you have to invest so many talent points you'll never get back, shouldn't every skill be useful throughout all of the game?

I haven't got anywhere near this far in the game, but the Fire Imp seems consistently useful throughout the entire game. I generally pump points into the Fire Imp talent whenever there's nothing more urgently required.

The option does not exist for the summoner class at the trainer, because it is one of the dormant skill types available at birth.
actually it is, I just checked. you do have to have the 50 gold though before you see that option, which might be why you thought you couldn't do it.
