Embers - Yeti Bulwark Winner

#1 Post by Nimmy »

Well, I think everyone will report their win with a gunslinger or a sawbutcher, so, here is my win with a bulwark !
I wanted to play the DLC with a classical build before trying the new classes, or the new talents (I used only a bit of tinkering in this build).

The equipment is not the one I had for the final boss, I changed a few items to highlight them.

First, this was a build as pure as possible.
I didn't unlock a new category (Battle Tactics) until the end game, and I did it only because I didn't know what to do with the remaining points..

I gave in each level 1 pt Con+ 1pt Str+ 1pt (Wil or Cun) (whichever was the lowest). I replaced Wil/Cun by Dexterity on opening and endgame (almost all points in Dex you see above were given in level 45+)

I buffed Wil or Cun because I wanted mental+magical saves, +stamina, and also cause I had a few talents depending on mindpower. In particular i obtained early on the Earthen Beads: One more way to heal, yay !

Also, early on, I obtained the Crooked Club. This is a strange weapon. Battle Call when the weapon hits is very good for a bulwark (esp. on the Ritch Hive), but repulsion radius 2 on crit makes for very weird fights.
But this means it acts hits multiple foes, which is good.

First prodigy was Fungal blood. Instant heal is just OK, but the removal of 10 magical effects is great when my magical saves weren't enough (the primal infusion also helped a lot).
Second one was Irresistible Sun. Before this, my offense was really poor: Just your basic 3 shield offenses talents, plus the Yeti mindwave technique.

Yeti talents:
I used Algid Rage when available, but didn't really buff it. Meh.
I don't know how good Resilient Body is, as you don't really see it used during the game unless you look at the log, I guess.
Mindwave is good, i'd say. My only attack on multiple foes (if you don't count the Crooked Club crit)

So basically, no Dex, and no movement infusion neither step up until the end (and I didn't actually had the use for it).
I'm surprised this build works, but I think this is because the DLC lacks mages.

Additional notes:
My second shield inscription was worse than this before endgame.
I had a lot of +Lck equipment, I don't know if it was a good idea.
My lantern had Lite: -7, so almost all my game was done with no Lite
