Well, after years of play, I finally pulled it off by the very skin of my teeth. (Normal/Adventure)

I died a lot and was on my last life, but the two wizards were actually easier than I thought they'd be. Most of my deaths were caused by the usual problem of not knowing when to get out of Dodge and come back later, particularly after meeting a unique solipsist giant chieftain in a Daikara vault, though an interesting two-deather came on High Peak against a unique bone giant corruptor who had a lot of harder monsters there with him. He was way out of my league and I only survived as I did by relying on my phase-door-boots and my heroism infusion to tide me over until I could throw a heal. (Also, Poosh was a lot of help.)
This game taught me that Ogre and Corruptor have amazing synergy. Corruptors have a lot of generics that they don't need, their first three cat points are all earmarked (one reason why Cornac Corruptors are standard), and they have dire need of more defenses, escapes and status heals - functions that inscriptions do exceptionally well. As Corruptors, Ogres essentially function as bigger, badder Cornacs (in that they get a free cat point for inscription) with excellent inscription power, their HP and stats aren't bad either, and going staff-and-shield was surprisingly useful in the midgame despite the hit to spellpower. Helped that I had a shield with a big spellpower boost, mitigating the drop in power.

Congrats on the win! My 2nd win was with an ogre and they are awesome.

Congratulations! That first win after a long time playing feels awesome.
I'm trying to get the Ogre to sing as my second winner. We'll see how it goes.
