Shalore Bulwark Winner - Nightmare

#1 Post by zemdu »

This is my first nightmare win which was very exciting! Character report below:

I learned a few things this game:
  1. Shalore are amazing. Timeless in particular has so many awesome uses. I primarily used it to extend my buffs. I would cast heroism, perfect strike, blinding speed, shielding rune, and greater weapon focus. Then cast timeless for an amazingly long high powered buff.
  2. Step up is also awesome. This has to be one of my favorite abilities. So many tactical uses and it promotes a slightly risky play-style which is fun.
  3. Telepathy feels overpowered if you can find the right items. I had orc/human, dragon, horror, and canine telepathy with a range of 20!!! So for almost every threat in the late game I had early warning and could auto-explore pretty much without risk.
  4. Using the vault can help the mid game a lot. I used the vault to get a couple of items, the most important being the temporal rift shield. I used that the whole game and when I grabbed it it boosted my damage significantly.
  5. The stamina reduction from I can carry the world (ICCTW) is very significant. I was having stamina problems until I took the prodigy at level 30. Afterwards, pretty much didn't have any stamina problems until the final fight.
  6. The stair bosses in high peak can be BRUTAL! I didn't die at all until high peak and then died 4 times to stair bosses and 1 times to the final boss. I should remember just to skip them and run for the stairs next time I get there, especially on roguelike.
  7. Speed reduction on hit is very powerful. On most rares, uniques, and even some bosses, I would hit them a few times and they would be down to 50% global speed. After that they would pose very little threat.
The final boss fight was super intense and I think it took me like 20 minutes or so to complete it. I rushed Elandar and killed him right away, but then killing Argoniel was pretty much impossible. She high super high armour and resists so I had to resort to running around, closing the portals, died one, and kept on running and teleporting till I could finally win!

Also, this is the first nightmare bulwark winner in 14 weeks so I feel pretty proud about that :)
