Really happy with how this run worked out, only my second try at Insane.
The build was basically a physical caster, using the Gravity, Stone and Distortion trees for damage. Absorption for the TK focus and a bit of defense early on. Temporal and Solipsism for the speed buffs and defense. Meta for spell cooldowns and stripping buffs. Generics were pretty typical for Adventurers. Light, Aegis and Conveyance for defense, healing and mobility. Shalore because master race. Bought Staff and Combat training. Was careless on a level up and squandered my last Category point because I was tired and didn't realize I'd actually selected a skill. Fortunately the character was sufficiently strong to get by without it, but any of the Flux, Energy or Demonic Strength trees would have been a nice option.
Just three deaths, and two of them were entirely due to carelessness/overconfidence. Once the build came together it was pretty close to a faceroll. Tons of AOE damage from the Gravity tree, strong single target damage with Earthen Missiles, loads of control from Distortion and Gravity, and a Global Speed of 180% between Solipsism/Clarity and Temporal/Essence of Speed. Although the build handled Insane quite well, I don't think it'd be viable on Madness. Not enough damage or staying power since you're so reliant on Paradox as your killing resource, and while you can do decent indirect nuking, your best attack would actually pull enemies into sight. Also, it's quite difficult to fit Meta into the build until level 36, and I was really starting to miss it by 30 or so; surviving long enough to get all the synergies to come together would be a herculean effort.
