Normal Win-Paradox Mage

#1 Post by Isotope-X »

I made myself two vows: that I would win with my favorite class, the Paradox Mage, before the new version arrives, and that I would win with my current character before trying the expansion materials. Both missions accomplished last night...but the server was having issues, so you'll have to trust me that he won.

I tried a new build, ignoring Age Manipulation totally and therefore lacking Turn Back the Clock. Instead I concentrated on Gravity, because Gravity Well is FREAKING AWESOME and the rest of the tree is OK, as long as Gravity Well is in effect. Time Skip and Quantum Spike are a killer combination. The Thalore trees and the Egg Sac spiders provided much appreciated blocking, even as I killed them in large numbers. Stupid trees, you hang out in Repulsion Blast range, you're getting shotgunned. I had some great luck with artifacts, even though I never did find my TARDIS. The Calm is an odd choice, but it was the best option I found.

Slowing enemy projectiles is both useful and terribly, terribly entertaining. I had fun dancing around Tornadoes during the Prides.

One death in the Hallowed Fields due to the ridiculous number of silencing grapples. And I had to sacrifice myself at the final fight.

Wins now with Doomed, Skirmisher and Paradox Mage. Probably not very impressive for all y'all winning Insane Roguelike Naked Blindfolded, but I'll take it.

Congrats on the win! You're playing the harder classes, and if you're winning with them without many deaths then you clearly have the basics down.
