Insane win: Thalore oozemancer

#1 Post by ZyZ »

Rasar

My super strong summoner made it to high peak, many solipists were also close but they lacked anti crit skills and eventually they all were wiped out. Something had to be done about ridiculous crits so i took an easy route and started with oozemancer.

The general idea was to eliminate crits, buff all resists to max and beyond and invest heavily in con because i knew i would be using fungal blood eventually. Why fungal blood ? It boost ooze in many ways
1) resists are most important thing in my build so i cant let spell shock or some curse to lower them. All magical affects that lowers resistances were removed instantly and fungal blood never fails when it comes to debuff removals
2) heal is instant and it is affected by healing factor so each infusion was like ~400 heal + small regeneration effect
3) when something needs to die FAST you can use fungal blood to gain additional turn (instant heal + ancestral life skill). This let you for example put natural acid on target + hit it with beam before it can react

Antimagic is nice to have. It helped me in early/mid game but you have to invest heavily in mind power/stats to make it work and i simply couldnt find gear with good mindpower bonuses AND resist/health/healing factor so i stick to tank items. I dont have much to say about build. I boosted all passive skills to maximum and juggle skill points between active skills to make them 5/5 too. I know it is silly but this is how this game is designed. Dont blame me :)

Final fight was easier than i expected but i remained 100% focused to the end :)

I've closed all 4 portals before first wave of adds spawned. Key to success is spydric poison (from skill or from item if it is required). I've immobilized Elandar and 1on1 Argoniel. Argoniel puts HEAVY -resist debuffs on you but this is why we have fungal blood right ? He was no threat to me and died quickly. With peral of life and death (+100% stun immunity and additional +7% resist all) i could max my resists with only one buff (and i had 3 at my disposal, 2 wild infusions and racial) so basically i could tank elandar for 10-20 turns. My crit shrug off was above 100% (used category point to boost it) so nothing unexpected could happen. On top of this i had trents + mind parasite combo that literally put all his spells on cooldown for a few turns :) In case of emergency i could still use movement infusion or ooze walk/slime roots.

It is kinda sad you have to pick oozemancer to avoid nasty crits. I like solipist / summoners / mindslayers more and i really tried to win insane with anti magic character but those crazy crits every few levels makes it very hard. Oozemancer is easy mode compared to them but still it is quite hard (try if you dont belive me :))

Congrats on the win! I just want to point out that you can probably hit 100% crit reduction without boosting Ooze if you pump Dexterity instead of Constitution, but of course that makes the early game much harder.

would this build and play style still work with version 1.2.3? I might try it out.
