First Insane win, no deaths, cornac wildfire archmage

Hello!

After winning many times on normal I decided it was time for a new challenge! I tried nighmare once but it felt like normal but more tedious so I edited the unlock file and went straight to insane. Played on adventure but with zero deaths so I'm pleased. I chose adventure because I had very little experience with higher difficulties and was afraid of one-shots in like level 29 before one has cauterize.

The early game was murderous but after cauterize things were pretty good. I picked cornac because I feel it's very good choice for archmages. That extra cat point helps.

The game constantly tried to screw my character over: I got the "endless spawns" bug with the Rotting Titan which means that you and enemies both create clones of themselves and then the control of your character is randomly switched between your own clones which is kind of bad if you have just used movement infusion to to get away from that place where you are then switched back to . Also after completing Limmir quest, the guy just disappeared completely. Didn't have the oppurtunity to use Goedalath rock. Also the game crashed once when trying to enter Temple of Creation.

The constant bosses were pretty fun to deal with. Apart from the final bossess, the most thretening monsters were probably elite Champions of Uhr'rok and kneecapper rares. I don't know exactly how much damage the former could do on High Peak but I'm pretty sure one could punch trough both time shield and reflection shield which is pretty horrible amounts of damage.

BTW, nerf skirmisher rares. Cauterize procced 6 times IIRC, 4 of them where kneecappers, one archer and one flurry. Also more than one close calls with the said talent. Didn't have any problems with doomed rares.

Skills: I got pretty much everything I wanted. Healing light from escort was great. Ended up with pretty small mana pool but I like my premonition and spell cooldowns limit the number of spells you can spam in a row anyways so this was enough. Also check out the mana rune which is, well, insane :) .

Hit level 50 during the killing of backup guardians. Cleared everything except shadow and melinda crypts.

The final battle felt pretty tense. I decided to close all the portals and Aeryn died soon after I had done so. So it was 1:2 battle from there on. Good thing an archmage has both arcane eye and good mobility. So it was just a matter of careful hide-and-murder game.

If I have the time from work et. I think I'm going to try madness next. Cornac aether archmage sounds fun.

Any questions, ask away.
