TLDR: 5/5/5/0 in the bomb tree, abuse infravision radius well over 10, no travel time for bombs, and AoE, killing most monsters from ranges at which they can't even see me. Higher should definitely be 5/5 for Alchemist because they abuse sight range SO well. Throw bombs that deal +% damage after hitting Tier 3 gems, because hitting 4 digits from long range wins fights.
After having numerous characters faceplant either in Dreadfell, the Melinda quest, or the Orc Prides, I came back to Alchemist, focused on bombs, and heck, it was pretty easy. My deaths were all to stupid or lazy, not hard. I had an early burglar's lamp drop, and a Protothype's Prismatic Eye in vault from a non-alch character, so eventually my Golem ended up with one Protothype in his armor, another equipped, and Telos' Staff Crystal equipped. The 6-radius bomb AoE is laughably overpowered when you abuse it to extend your effective kill range, since situations where you can't do this tend to mean the AoE gets restricted and doubles your damage or so. Crafty Hands and the Corruptor prodigy for prodigies, which together grant a lot of raw staying power.
