looking for advice on equipment choice..

So I got a cornac Marauder going and he is doing well. Normal / adventure mode.

I still don't have a clue what many of those statistics exactly mean. For example, I can now choose between wearing a heavy armor, or wearing the behemoth skin for a large bonus to health, stamina and regen. What is better?

I also noticed that wearing the heavy armor results in a far higher armor hardiness. Why is that?

And what stats should I look for on my weapons? I'm going for dual wielding daggers and I'm currently wearing the artifact scalpel because it looks cool, but I guess it's not great? Or is it?

Your Armour Training skill gives a big boost to armour hardiness and other stuff when using heavy armour. Even so, I'd probably lean towards the Behemoth Hide at this stage; straight life and stat boosts are just great, especially early game. As far as daggers, the Scalpel is nice to hang on to just in case you run into something with super-high defense, but other than that I'd be willing to replace it with something with more pure damage output or other useful attributes.

on normal mode you could use light or heavy armor and it won't make such a big difference, heavy armor seems better but it has a drawback fatigue, the more fatigue you have the more stamina your skills cost, if you see yourself running out of stamina you better find a way to remove fatigue or switch to lighter equipment.

I am not sure if you know this or not but, hardiness allows you to absorb hardiness % of the damage, for example if you get hit for 100 damage and have 50% hardiness you COULD absorb 50 damage, but you can only absorb up to your armor value, if you have 50 armor you will absorb the 50 damage but if you have 25 armor you could absorb only 25 damage.
