I've been making Shadow Blades the past few days and loving them, mostly I'll just steamroll everything, but then I just get slaughtered on the bottom of Dreadfell. Spells and Shadowblade, it just ain't pretty.
I just wanted to post my latest guy to see if there were something horribly wrong I was doing. Maybe I'm spreading my stats to thin?

Great game.

Firstly, Why haven't you used the Heart of the Sandworm Queen???
Secondly, You probably don't need that many points in Combat Accuracy that early.
Thirdly, Why don't you have a Wild infusion for status effect curing?

Re: Ugh -- Shadowblade Brick wall
Good tips.
I hadn't used Heart because you need a category point (I think?) which I had spent on stealth and magic tree for the Time Shield, which I love so much, but I will def look into fitting that in.
I have never been fond of the Wild Infusions, preferring the heals/shields, but I think considering my past failures, it's time to take a more serious look.

The Heart gives you 3 stat points, 1 class point and 1 generic point as well as allowing you to learn the Harmony category...

Re: Ugh -- Shadowblade Brick wall
u didnt put a single point to shadowstep or rush.
shadowstep is the defining ability for this class, biggest damage attack which also adds mobility. you should try it. rush is also 1 point at least for mobility. whirlwind will do pretty nice damage vs groups and is also a 1point wonder.
stats wise i wouldnt put so much constitution so early, and focus more on dex and cunning if u build the class around stealth.
as already noted u should really look into the other infusions. wild infusions and movement infusions are pretty good. i also tend to remove the mana surge rune as soon as i got shadowfeed at 2/5 (leave it there usually) since its not really needed and other infusions are better. u just have to make sure that u still have an escape if your mana got drained and u cant cast teleport.

Hit and run!
To beat the master with Shadowblade you could do the following:
1. Carefully clear all around the edges of the map, digging if needed. Use whatever secret scouting you have; stealth, arcane eye, etc. You basically want the master all by his lonesome and noone else.
2. Have a Infusion: Physical to clear the iceblock he hits you with (or 100% stun immunity, but I never seem to have that by Dreadfell)
3. Have a Rune: Teleport (in case you can't teleport manually)
4. Sneak to boss, shadowstep, stun, stun, hack, slash!
5. The *second* the stuns wear off, or if the stuns *don't* take, or if he summons minions, you teleport away.
6. Kite around for his minions to die off
7. Rinse and repeat. Depending on your stats/weapons this could take a number of attempts.

Re: Ugh -- Shadowblade Brick wall
This is all solid advice. Keep in mind that The Master has 70% stun resistance so even with Dirty Fighting and Dual Strike, your odds of actually stunning him aren't great. Also, if you want to be extra careful, dig zigzag tunnels and lure The Master in, so he can't summon minions on you and you can get out of his LoS in a single step. This makes sustained combat with him much more realistic since you don't have to worry about minions or being chased (still be careful when hit with Congeal Time, since he might get another hit or two as you run away unless you have a Movement Infusion).Furey wrote:Hit and run!

Re: Ugh -- Shadowblade Brick wall
Actually you have a 51% chance of stunning him. The first doesn't take a turn if resisted, so you get two probabilities of 0.70 in one turn. The odds of *both* resisting are only 49%. (assuming my math is solid, which is a big assumption :/ )bpat wrote:This is all solid advice. So you stun + stun,
if stun then frenzy
else,
teleport and repeat till stun.
I've used this with all my melee characters with stuns, and it works fine.
