http://te4.org/characters/24942/tome/0d ... 20aadab6c8 He was supposed to be neeber but i retired that named after no fewer than three yeek necromancer Neebers failed to game ending bugs during and after the lich quest, most vexing.
My first win was a roguelike Necromancer, but this was a dry run of some build stuff for nightmare to make sure it's worth the agony of early yeek for the confusion immunity later and if Sacrifice with cauterise can truly prevent most one-shots. I think the answers were no and yes - but interestingly i barely noticed a difference between 1 and 5 point sacrifice for those occasions i saw something vicious and needed to back up for the turns it takes to set up. '20% per hit' still stops any unmanagable burst so that vampirism keeps you full. The only time a fight outlasted the shield was the end bosses and a dispeller or two. No amount of trying to justify advanced minions worked (they have terrible spellpower and kill each other with aoes/debuffs), so there were always enough awesome skeletons to break down. I can't imagine they'll perform as well on nightmare so the plan there is wisps instead of empathy for true petbomb~
I had dead turns and mana problems all game long, nightmare version will try to squeeze in ice shards for less dead (leechless) turns and a second manasurge because vamprism costs too damn much with the pet support spells. (or hidden resources if telos once again eludes me). The end fight took hundreds of turns after the caster died, most of which were spent just waiting for mana and darkness while the ally and melee boss sat there flailing. My recollection from the roguelike guy is similar, i don't know how other necros don't find the resource as unmanagable.
Garkuls was to try Atamathon before the ending and because telos' did not drop in time (he was trivial, it's a fun toy), but was irrelevant because... and here's the best bit... yeek lich do not have the custom racial ending. Which means a lich yeek is less evil than a furry yeek. Screw you, way! (but thanks for the wayists)
edit: misspoke nightmare instead of roguelike on a line, bah.

Congrats! Kinda funny--I saw your name fly by a few times on the chat earlier today, and I managed a lich win today as well.
Mine went minionless, dark-only though, which actually turned out awesome. And Higher--for the regen and arcane mostly, though the last racial talent was somewhat useful in the final battle in keeping mana up. I also wasn't running vampiric, just frostdusk and premonition. Still I had like 800 or so mana by the endgame (even with sustains running), so mana was never really an issue unless I got mana-crashed or something. I'd thought about running Yeek instead, but I actually never had too much trouble with confusion or silence (I guess I had decent saves).
I managed to take down the sorcerers rather swiftly, albeit haphazardly. With all the darkness and star fury spells maxed, there was always something off cooldown, and everything hit really hard. The two beams typically hit for between 800 to 1000 each, and even the banes were doing over 100 each turn. I did get the Telos prodigy, so I was able to get good multipliers for damage and arcane. I also threw in meteor once I imbued a bloodstone into my black robe and got full stun immunity. Throw in Forgery of Haze, and bosses tended to go down really quickly. So for the last battle, I just called up my forgery and blasted for awhile, then teleported or phased away to recharge.
Anyway, sorry for the tangent. I have a minion-necro going as well, but it's gotten a little tedious, and I was just kinda surprised at how well the non-minion one worked out. Fun build.

The petspells are expensive where the spam nukes are cheap is the issue. Which is fine when pert mortality is not too low but painful when it's high. Well timed Hidden Resources probably really would counter it completely. You're right though, the obvious solution is just to stop it being a slogfest where i was brute forcing it due to feeling kind of invulnerable by that point and not wanting to bother reatreating xD (the ego didn't like having to Portal Master after the last few characters all easily Tactical Mastering, i think)
Actually kind of surprised you didn't need vampiric to stay up, interesting.
I wouldn't have posted this at all as it's kind of stock standard necro, but the yeek thing was such an awesome discovery
