So here she is, Kalzerker Soon To Die, my first roguelike winner. Based on my previous adventurer winner I decided to do what I could to get higher crit%, and it worked. Cancelling bloodbath and critting again for health was quite the useful strategy - when opponents didn't evade anyway. Spent a LOT of time in the fortress farportal leveling and gathering great loot, in fact did not even fight The Master until level 48 or 49, by which time of course he was not much of a threat.
There was 1 instance of save-scumming - when I opened the door to Subject Z, the yeek was missing. There were two spinning beam traps there, which makes the poor yeek's fate easy to guess. I figured that wasn't fair, even for RNG, so I killed the game and loaded my save from Halfing Ruins 3.
Blood of Life never showed up, but Ring of the Dead did. I had so many great rings to wear, that it was almost a relief when a farportal boss deprived me of it.... Got replaced with a Gladiator's Ring of Focus, which proved quite handy.
Used first 2 cat points on infusion slots, 3rd on Harmony tree, 4th on upgrading Tactics - mainly to get lower cooldown on Rush, but the small Precise Strikes crit increase was welcome as well. With the Ring of the War Master (best ring ever for warriors, or what?!) that gave a 4 turn Rush cooldown, and i could quickly swap in Glory of the Pride for the focus ring to get 0 cooldown whenever I needed.
Found a great Warrior's Shield rune - 600+ for 7 turns, and by the very end it was shielding for over 700!
Didn't find the Crystal Heart by the time I entered High Peak, but brought a rare vortun armor in just in case - which proved the right thing to do. Checked inventory at the stairs up on High Peak 10 - and there it was, picked up somewhere along the way! Until then I'd been using the Blighted Maul, which is an incredible weapon, even with its speed decrease. It was sad to relegate it to secondary weapon duties. I probably did not pick the rare weapon for the Crystal Focus properly either - the 50% shield penetration was sure nice, but 50% Light Conversion was not. Especially since I had +56% Arcane Damage boost there at the end!
After winning, cleaned up a couple remainders - the Out of Your Mind achievement and the golem in the west. I think the only place I didn't do was the Last Hope Graveyard, mainly because I had no desire to be cursed.
Finally Kalzerker entered Infinite Dungeons, where she met her end with a 1516 damage Skullcracker crit by a rare red ant. A few things I should've probably done - inspected the thing to see what skills it had and what the damage potential was for one thing. Taken a notice when Kalzerker's physical resistance was reduced from 49% to 1% for another. But it just didn't seem all that terrifying, until the "WTF" moment when the healthbar was replaced with ???. Until then, I was mostly annoyed that the thing was dodging almost all my attacks.
Finally, I would like to thank everyone in the forums and the chat (especially pander) who answered my pestering questions!
