b21 Antimagic Wyrmic Winner

#1 Post by edge2054 »

My first win :)

http://te4.org/characters/81/tome/88f4b ... 1cc000edf0

Once this character got rolling I didn't have much trouble with anything. The closest I came to 'death' was during the orc ambush when I got dropped to 20 hit points. Lightning Speed + Double Move infusions made the run through the volcano super easy. The last fight I wish I had walked into with more knockback resist but otherwise it wasn't to difficult. Did have a semi-close call when Curse of Death was killing me but I popped Antimagic Shield to nul out the damage and then a movement infusion to hide until I could get my life back up.

Overall I have a lot of fun playing Wyrmics. Rush, Breath, Death Dance, Swallow, Lightning Speed, Breath breath breath. Good times. I'd say my damage output was a bit low but my survivability was pretty crazy.

As to antimagic. Resolve makes equilibrium management essentially a non-issue. Aura of Silence does it's job very well (9 radius AoE, 5 turn silence on a 10 turn cooldown basically shuts down every caster in LOS for 50% of the time). Antimagic Shield I hardly ever used but in the spots I did use it I was taking zero damage from damage over time effects and it saved my skin on the last fight. Mana Clash was fun and was nice to have one single target nuke in my skill set though I wish it scaled off straight will instead of Mindpower (I ended up dumping some points into cunning just to boost my antimagic tree).

Some fun tidbits about Mana Clash. Early game thunderers would get shut down completly by this spell. Mana Clash would put their mana too low to sustain thunderstorm. End game I was getting meleed by the Reaver boss because he was out of Vim. I'm sure the curses he kept dropping on me had something to do with it but the two mana clashes I hit him with couldn't have hurt.

I like the armor changes. At lower levels it made the game less of a snooze fest and at higher levels it made melee monsters much less dangerous.

Jewelry was probably my biggest hurdle the whole game. A secondary means of jewelry store access would be nice for people that want to go the AM route. Also we could use more artifacts that have more of a natural bent so if anyone has any ideas please post them in the appropriate thread (otherwise I'll get to it soonish). Especially endgame stuff. Some of the best gear in the game just wasn't available to me even though I'd found it (Deep Bellows, that Uber light the naga drops, etc).

It was a fun ride. Very enjoyable build and great game DarkGod. :)

Well done - very nice build!

Makes a refreshing change to see a real winner (roguelike!).

Yeah people that play on normal aren't really play this game and their wins should be void!

That's rather harsh, I wouldn't void their wins - but they don't hold as much weight to me as a single life game does.

I recently won in adventure mode and only consumed blood of life - therefore I would have won in roguelike too. My win doesn't hold as much weight?

congrats! running a late-game antimagic wyrmic too right now (shield rather than double wield though), agree with all your points. double movement infusions for the win!

I agree, a win is a win!

However, to paraphrase the book Animal Farm, not all wins are equal!

Yeah, I played a shield wyrmic up until the east before and honestly, the single target DPS on the shield build was WAY WAY BETTER!

Warshout, Berserker, and Death Dance are nice though but they don't really add to what a wyrmic lacks which is single target DPS. If I ever feel like playing another wyrmic I'll go shields again, especially with the armor changes as they are. 100 armor would be really nice :)
