I was recently working on a project. Not a game/tome thing, but I had this idea for a mechanic. It's simple, but fun and unique. IMO.
I am wanting a barebones engine to work off of and TOME looks like an excellent platform to use. Mostly I want to tinker with the functionality of the saves mechanism and a few other odds and ends. Not looking for a graphics set or any of the classes/history stuff. So starting with the example modules looks right to me. Yay!
Now, as far as I can tell, modules is definitely looking like a what one can call a 'Total Conversion' off of the engine, rather than a more traditional 'Mod' in the Addons section.
What I mean is modules/tome is the 'game' I traditionally think of when I play Tales of Maj'Eyal, correct? So that is the only section that has the licensing issue?
I will add a little to the modules to have a basic 'game' and then be able to tinker with the save system, which will save me a lot of time.
If you are willing to answer, I would appreciate a hint to where the code is, but I might find it while I wait for a reply.
Thanks! Tales is a lot of fun, and now I find I can use it to save me a lot of time.

Re: Sorta a new-game/module
It sounds like you have an interesting project in mind, and TOME is indeed a great platform for experimenting with mechanics. You're right that modules can feel like a total conversion, giving you a solid foundation to build upon. As for the code, you might find it in the module's directory or the documentation provided with TOME. Good luck with your tinkering, and I hope you have fun creating your unique game experience!
