So... I managed to die will at 471 life after only taking... 147 damage. At least, that's all the combat log shows. The death message was:
"XXX the 20th level mindslayer was frozen and shattered into a million tiny pieces on XXX"
So... presumably, I died from one of those "Anything taking X% damage dies instantly" frozen effects... but that's not shown in the combat log? Is that death message unique to an instant kill?
Any way to tell instakills from combat logs?

I'm curious. What difficulty were you on?

Just Normal (Adventurer) difficulty, but I was in a Dreadfell Vault.

If thats the case, i doubt it was an instakill. I think the PC has 100% instadeath resistance on normal and nightmare.

Some effects, like stoned shatter, ignore instakill immunity.
Re: Any way to tell instakills from combat logs?
If the the PC has 100% instadeath resistance what would be the possible effect. Could this make heavy damage? Could this be consider as an advantage or a disadvantage?

Still the same, Mike. Not sure about another call sign, I only have one call, VE3VEE. Would re-installing help, or could testing on a different PC make any difference?
