Can't run TE in windowed mode (Mac)

For whatever reason, none of the normal windowing commands (Cmd-Tab, etc.) seem to work with TE on my Mac (OSX 10.6.1). Am I missing something? I'd really like to be able to tab away from it when I need to w/o saving and quitting.
