In your opinion, what the easiest class to win the game?
Probably on Normal - Adventure
What race / class /tree combo ?
And by easy I also mean, not too much grinding. Or doing lengthy side stuff (yes gearing your Golem or imbuing gem is probably a lengthy side stuff).
The most straightforward to play. With just a few auto cast and auto explore.
I suppose melee class are at a loss. Too much steps to get from one target to the other. But I dont know the game very well, and rampaging Cursed seems pretty straightforward.
I suppose you need some zone damage for crowd control.
Some instant shield. Some bonus to saves might help.
What about Lightning Higher Archmage?
the 2 Lightning spell, seems cool to auto-cast without having to adjust the target like with any other ray.
The 3 Lightning is cool so you dont have to worry about all the gears you want to carry around.
Higher is fast leveling. You can get the arcane defense prodigy so you dont bother with individual defense.
And with archmage you get enough trick to get out of almost any bad situation: Heal, teleport, shield.
Infusion/ rune and escort skill are a bonus for stuff you can do by yourself.
I'd really like to win this game once without playing for month, and without cheating!
(And not too much locked race/class/tree... I mean nobody unlocked oozemancer already :])

Not a super-expert, but I found Archer to be a very easy class(especially as a Skeleton), and Summoner too(though I didn't win with it).
However they're not(at least to me) very 'exciting' to play.

Re: In your opinion, what the easiest class to win the game?
Oozemancer is the obvious answer, probably Solipsist after.
After some experimentation, IMO the easiest way to win on normal is going a character siding with Antimagic and abusing the Fungus and Antimagic trees. Your best options for that, if you're looking for something that's easy to have unlocked, would probably be either Summoner or Wyrmic. Once you get perma-regen, you can pretty much just bump most things down and not have to worry about anything but particular bosses and rares.
If you want a relatively easy magic character, Corruptor is the best choice. Bone Shield is a great defensive sustain, and from there you can just rely on spamming your direct nukes.

Re: In your opinion, what the easiest class to win the game?
Archmage on my opinion has a pretty harsh start to be called easy.
My first and pretty much easiest win was a Summoner. Think he was Higher, though I don't think it did much good.
If I were to play a Summoner right now with the experience I have I would dare say that I could beat it on my first try without any deaths, without resorting to help from my items vault.
As for the other so called OP classes like Stone warden, Solipsist and Oozemancer I really haven't even tried them. Summoner was so easy I can't make myself go through the same experience again.

Stronk is a potent combatant with a terrifying appearance.

My first win was a Thalore Bulwark! Rush a boss or caster hit the damage boost and hit for over 2k to 5k! Even better if I had greater focus up then i would step up to another person and kill them and just keep going! But I did a silly build and I could have done a lot better if I had use a different build instead of getting Stone Alch and Crafty Hands! But you should try that!
Re: In your opinion, what the easiest class to win the game?
Cursed is the first class I won with after trying bulwark / berserker / archmage. For what you want, you could try a Cornac Cursed, use your free cat point to unlock Rampage and build that tree initially. Cursed are melee, but have good mobility with Blindside, Reckless Charge, Surge (+movement rate), and of course Rampage's huge movement speed buff. Your fourth gloom ability and rampage help you deal with casters pretty well (you can also go AM if you want) and your attacking is pretty straightforward (mostly bumping, though I like some of their active talents like Dominate and Harass Prey). Preturnatal sense is a passive telepathy ability that lets you not get surprised by monsters around corners too. Lots of good survival tools and a lot of passive buffs that you don't have to actively manage.
Re: In your opinion, what the easiest class to win the game?
The obvious answers are Thalore Oozemancer and Thalore Summoner. All Oozemancers have to do on Normal difficulty is spam their five damage abilities and use a Regeneration Infusion when you somehow manage take damage. Summoners can just go Fire Drake -> Frantic Summoning -> Fire Drake to clear almost everything, and Ritch Flamespitter and the melee trio are good too for when Fire Drake is on cooldown. Thalore is a great race for both of these since their summoned trees are amazing and they don't even take a turn, and Guardian of the Wood makes Thaloren very good at clearing the Dark Crypt, which is a deathtrap for unprepared players. Neither of these are the strongest classes late game, but they are definitely the easiest. Archmage and Solipsist, which are often mentioned in response to this question, require considerably more tactical play in order to win than Oozemancer and Summoner.

Re: In your opinion, what the easiest class to win the game?
By far the easiest class is Oozemancer. With level 3+ Mucus on autocast, you never have to worry about equilibrium. With Bloated Oozes and free Fungus, you never have to worry about dying. With Mucus Oozes, you barely even have to worry about attacking. Finally, with Natural Acid and Corrosive Nature, anything you care enough to focus on will be dead in a handful of turns, including the final bosses.
Re: In your opinion, what the easiest class to win the game?
Yes, i have only 1 win in Nightmare difficulty and it was a Dwarf Oozemancer.
Their main strength is that they can be -very- resilient due to them sharing the damage they take with the bloated ooze they can summon, and their ooze can deal very good damage.
While i have been very lucky with some really great items and with the merchant, still i'm sure even with average loot, Oozemancers should be powerfull enough to get a win in Nightmare.
But i think a Summoner should be able to do Nightmare too, they can get very strong summons to get the job done.
I think the most difficult classes to beat Nightmare would be with melee-only character as damage from the enemies are higher than in Normal.
Now Insane difficulty, i'm not masochist enough to even give a try

Re: In your opinion, what the easiest class to win the game?
Oozemancer's are incredibly powerful. As are Wildfire Archmages, but as someone else said, they have a really rough start. Summoner's are pretty easy, though I never won. In theory, Reavers and Berserkers should be easy, but I haven't figured out how to keep one alive long enough to win.
And it was such a good idea...
Re: In your opinion, what the easiest class to win the game?
Skeleton Archmage avoids the rough start and is a very good combo. But I agree, Thalore Oozemancer is so easy that you don't have to try.
Re: In your opinion, what the easiest class to win the game?
The problem with skeleton, or Oozemanzer, is that you probably dont get them before very late -you need to reach level 30 with one other character before-
Archer seems pretty straightforward, easy to play -thanks to the extented auto-use addon taking care of their early low range problem with the auto-cast on range- and resilient -with massive armor and a shield-
When I test a class I usually go with yeek.
I finally got my 1st win with my favorite class to play : Shadowblade
Now I wonder the easiest way to clear the game on Nightmare.
Can we get the Insane mode by winning with an Adventurer? And if so , what kind of adventurer would more easily clear the Nightmare mode?

- level fast so I can have a fast glimpse into the class skill
- super fragile so I can have a feel of their longterm survivability

My first winner was a dwarven summoner. Complete faceroll - spam drakes/minotaurs/golems until everything dies. Highly recommended if you're just trying for some unlocks and want to see the endgame. It was kinda boring though.

Re: In your opinion, what the easiest class to win the game?
I decided i'd awake this sleepy thread instead of making a new one.
I am a new TOME player, so i'm not sure if something has changed since january.
I had a easy time with a dwarven alchemist, it was almost z-1-z-1... Died once coz of that, to an orc assasin who killed me before i could do anything, straight from autoexplore and another time to the boss in the first dungeon of tannen quest. It's a pretty boring class though.
So i was wondering, what do ppl think about classes these days?

Re: In your opinion, what the easiest class to win the game?
Oozemancer is the easiest class to win on Normal, followed closely by Summoner. However, these neither of these classes are the best classes in ToME, people just recommend them because they're easy to win with. If you're looking for an easy/simple class, go with Oozemancer, Summoner, Solipsist, or Corruptor. If you're looking for a powerful (but not necessarily easy) class, go with Archmage, Corruptor, Marauder, Arcane Blade, or Temporal Warden.
