Hello,

Warning: SPOILERS!

I'm playing a lvl 50 Draconian Lich Necromancer. I've pretty much done everything (except beat the game) and I'd like to beat Atamathon.

My character is a pure darkness necro. Thus, I'm not too concerned about Ata's reflection ability since I have huge darkness resist and darkness affinity. This may in fact help me. That being said, I don't have any minions except a 5/5 forgery of haze and the 1/5 curse of the meek.

That being said. Ata does HUGE damage, and I only have 1150 hp.

As assets I have five shields (reflection rune, 2x shield rune, displacement shield and a belt of shielding), as well as the ability to cast a fully upgraded PD and a fully upgraded teleport.

My darkness damage is huge, and I'll probably be able to hit him for ~850 damage per attack.

I also have the invulnerability potion.

I've pasted my chardump right after this.

Any tips, suggestions or thoughts? I'm keep to plan this out and do it right!

Also, a link to your character on the servers might be better then a character dump, due to space concerns. Beyond that, enclosing it in 'code' tags would also make it easier to read.

you need your primary power to be as close to 100 (i.e. ***) as possible, to land any talent that has status effects (and several he is immune to, check his char sheet first).

you MUST not get next to him, as you'll die immediately. He'll chew up your hps for breakfast in one turn. So move away first and attack frmo a distance.

But beware, he can travel very quickly !

He'll resist your damage unless you have 80%+ damage penetration - I didn''t look to see what yours is.

So you need higher damage that you can land fast. He has lots of hit points.

But his biggest weapon is overwhelming damage he does to you (I'm talking thousands of damage per turn).

Hope this helps.

If you had asked how to kill him as a solipsist or oozemancer, I could tell you easily. I've beaten quite a few times. But I"ve never tried as a necro.

OK, You got circle of death, so you may beat it.

Keep you distance with phase door and teleport, make sure you are out of its line of sight. Look for terrains like this, and then spam circle of death.

This terrain is perfect because:
1. It will rush you, but its path will be blocked by the tree.
2. It will try to use arcane pull, but you can't be pulled through the tree, its effort is in vain.
3. Its molten skin will NEVER hurt you.

On this case, you can kill it safely with "cloud" spells like circle of death, glacial vapor, etc.
But remember: NO SUMMONS! If it tries to rush your forgery of haze or cute bunny, you're busted.

This is how I killed Atamathon with my archmage, the skill is different, but the strategy is the same.

With Garkul's revenge you should be doing 1000% more damage to him, which should help a lot. Damage affinity might not help you because I think you first take the damage and then get healed. With your 1000% bonus you probably do enough damage to kill yourself on reflection before the healing.

If the golem does not heal you could keep running, phase dooring yourself in a circle while spamming minions and bunnies at him. Not sure how effective this would be.

Gloves of dispersion might remove some nasty things he can do.

Never beat Amathom, but also never tried seriously.

Gloves of dispersion is a must, to stop the damage reflection. Thankfully, they aren't horribly hard to find, at least once over the course of the game. Check your glove stores.
