So, final battle/ending...
I beat both sorcerers, sacrificed myself, and ... that's not winning? It doesn't show up that way. I have no idea what I did wrong... I have to save the girl at the end, so she can sacrifice herself instead? That wouldn't be very gentlemanly, and also super irritating. My 'high score' now shows my character killed by my character. Hugely unsatisfying and confusing, after the amount of work to get there.

Weird. I assume this is the character to which you are referring:

Yep... not sure if it's a bug, or the way things are supposed to be. I got the achievement for beating it without closing any summoning portals (I didn't know you could close them) and only died three times. The deaths are kinda amusing:
1) The Maze lev. 2. I died to a spinny trap holding down an arrow key before I found out about auto-explore. Took six hits in a half second because I was careless, and killed him from full health.
2) Rak'Shor Pride. Got to the Far East, did underwater cave and spider cave, wasn't aware I was supposed to build a portal back, went here next. Died in the first room the first round. Learned not to go there that early.
3) Final battle. Killed first sorcerer, teleport failed trying to relocate to heal a bit. The only death that wasn't really due to ignorance/carelessness.
It was my first character to really do anything past The Master, so I'd call it a good successful trip. The only thing is, I don't know why it's not considered a win, and I don't want to go through the game again only to have the same thing happen. The fact that I lost when I feel like I won means I effectively don't want to play ever again. It's kinda a bummer, because I like the game, but I feel robbed.

If it helps, you have Selfless(Win the game with a sacrifice ending) and Tactical Master(Clear the game without closing any portals) in your achievements when I look at your player profile, so you're still credited as a winner, just not directly on the file. (It credits the right PC, too.)
There's been some instability with the Selfless/Triumph of the Way giving proper wins in the online vault at points. Don't think too much of it(though this is still odd and needs to be fixed-Selfless was working before.).
Anyone that knows what to look for can easily tell that it's a clear, too-when you have a dead character whose last action was killing one of the Sorcerers with no obvious cause of death and positive HP, it's obvious enough.
