New Transmogrification Chest

#1 Post by Canderel »

...

How do I transmogrify all the items I brought along from the old forest.

In the past I dropped it all on the floor, and transmogrified. How to do that now? Manually?!

I would like to see an option in the menu of "move to chest"... Perhaps that would help?

Okay, basic rundown.

Items you step on for the first time are automatically picked up and sent to your chest. While in there, they are weightless. When you leave a level, the chest inventory pops up and you are allowed to move anything you want into your normal inventory. Leaving the inventory at that point automatically mogs everything in the chest. If you want to move something out of the chest before then, you can do so from the chest tab in your inventory. Activating the chest manually will prompt you to mog everything currently in the chest, if you want to do so before leaving the level.

Once you have removed something from the chest, the only way to t.mog it is to click on the item and choose 'transmogrify now'. Items you personally drop will not be added back into the chest.

You can not manually move things back into the chest, as near as I can tell, in order to prevent the player from circumventing encumbrance (By moving everything out of the chest before leaving a level, and back in afterwards.). If you want to mog a large stack of things, just don't remove them from the chest in the first place.

Biggest current issue with it is gems, which go straight to your inventory instead of the chest. T.moging them is, unfortunately, done manually. Tip: Enter, down, enter, enter, for rapid mogging.

My issue is that when I reach that level I have a huge amount of stuff brought with me from Old Forest and then Lake Nur.

These items often count over 25. Now I have to manually transmogrify them, but now *with prompts*.

In the past I dropped it all on the ground and transmogrified all.

Well in b36 this will only happen once, as from now on when you first find the chest it unlocks a new birth equipment, all your new chars will start with the chest

Can we have gems be put in the chest along with the rest of the items?

What are your thoughts on this guys?

I know that alchemists use gems but 99% of my gems end up getting sold/transmog'd for gold.

Gems don't weigh anything. So they can go to inventory. the only time you'll be needing gold is when you're at a store. (Ok some small exceptions exist) so you can sell your gems at the store. That's my feeling anyway.

Gems are the absolute best source of fortress energy, as well as the only items that transmog for as much as they sell. Because of this, it's full and away the better choice to mog gems than to sell them -- you get the same amount of gold and considerably more fortress energy-per-item than any other item in the game. I've actually taken up the habit of not selling any gems at all in the early game, for an initial t.mog party. Better than half the time, so far, doing so has allowed me to immediately enter the farportal after getting the chest and that initial mogging glut.

S'just currently more cumbersome to mog gems than to sell them, which is annoying. Be nice if that got fixed
