b31 Continuum destabilization

#1 Post by Tom »

Hello.

After killing a wilderness party I notise, after Im back on the world map, that in green text I have this 'Continuum destabilization(53).
Hoovering the mouse over the green text it says:

"The target has been affected by space or time manipulations and is becoming more resistant to them (+10)"

Now what is this all about?

Enemies that use temporal magic on you can cause that. Basically don't worry about it - not a big thing.

It's actually a balancing mechanism for a few abilities, namely targeted phase door, time skip, rune of the rift, and time prison.

Basically what it does is it puts a stacking *buff* on you that makes you more resistant to these effects. The reason for this was to keep Phase Doors cooldown low (so it could be used defensively) without having to remove it's offensive component. Before it was added you could basically chain Phase Door a boss as a mage and aside from abilities like Rush or what not it would never stand a chance of getting in melee with you. At this point in time Phase Door also worked trough walls 100% of the time.

As time went on it's been gradually added to a few other effects that are basically so powerful that allowing them to be chain cast over and over on a boss would be cheesy.
