Scary vault. Tips any one?

#1 Post by Tom »

Hello.
Dreadfell vault.
Almost died when I sneaked in shielded, to use the orb to see how it looked.
Of the shield and my life was just a fragment left.
Escaped with teleport (pinned badly to the ground) which worked this time.
Is there a way to beat this for a halfling rogue?
Eight archers in there I think. One in each lava section.

I beat that vault once, but I think that was with a Slinger who had maxed Slow Motion. So I dodged most of their projectiles while firing my own. Even with Slow Motion, it was a painful vault. I shot at most of them from the doorway. I'd put a strong shield rune on, stand in the doorway and shoot at one. Then I'd immediately duck back out of view and rest up. Then I'd put the shield rune back on, take another shot, then duck out of view again. An invisibility rune might be useful, too, if you think those items are worth it.

The only distance attack I have is Spit Poison (2).
But I do have invisibility runes in my knapsack.
But they are limited in number of uses, so this is not a possible option.

Those archers refuse to leave their positions and follow after me out.
Guess I just have to leave it. I don't care about those items so much as my pride. :(

Hmmm.
I think Im on the right track now.
I managed to kill the two close up north with Spit Poison.
Then I shielded and used Movement Infusion to check the position.
This is where I am now.
Might fight this vault out.

Indeed.
The infusion says 'Any other actions than movement will cancell the effect'
Well, Spit Poison did NOT cancell the Movement.
I spitted, was hit by an arrow, alas, not pinned this time so I could run back out and still have my Free Action up.
Might be a bug, but I am not going to apologize for that.

I don't think that picking items up cancels it either.

Autopickup (coins and gems) should perhaps not stop it, but actively doing it should.
And actions like Spit Poison of course.

I've beat that vault before, but that was on a Temporal Warden. It's probably ridiculously hard to beat that vault on a melee toon... you could probably get an offensive rune if you really wanted it but I'd probably not bother.

And lie sleepless for two weeks wondering if you could have beaten it?

Most of the melee class ranged attacks are currently bugged, and will not actually cross the lava to hit the archers (I've confirmed this with Shattering Shout, Fire Breath, and Sand Breath). So, it's pretty much impossible with a melee class unless you're using runes or store-bought Shoot skill, as you have no way at all to damage them.

Have you checked this again in b31? This was supposed to have been fixed.
