How people manage to win final battle?

#1 Post by Postman »

I got what I think was perfect shadowblade
http://te4.org/characters/1281/tome/503 ... 25900d6212
passed through all the game without a hitch(there were some stupid mistakes), but final battle was completely hopeless (v28) Lost 4 lifes, closed all portals but didn't even mange to dent the sorcerers. Mostly I was fighting hordes of dreads, which debuffed me in first turn BTW there are they come from with closed portals?
Are there some trick, or winning tactic? I see winning shadowblades in database...That is already my second shadowblade with bunch of spare lifes lost in final battle ...
May be I shouldn't have closed portals? With such amount of dreads whatever come through probably wouldn't make difference...

I won by cheesing a lucky quake with my wyrmic. Well it was what I was going for. It took a couple of tries while the sun paladin kept them busy.

With a shadow blade I'd try to kill the two main guys asap, and hope the horde doesn't kill you...

Getting Time Prison can be a tremoudous help too
[tome] joylove: You can't just release an expansion like one would release a Kraken XD

[tome] phantomfrettchen: your ability not to tease anyone is simply stunning ;)

Yep, that's what I think too now. Closing portals was a mistake - it didn't help, took critical time(even with two movement infusion) and may be even hurt - the dread wouldn't be so concentrated.
I don't think time prison would help - I tried it several version ago, in my previous final battle. Everything that count were resisting.

That's my winner, you'll see time prison helped tremoundously (granted I probably had more spellpower than you since I was an archmage, but still)

My berserker (roguelike) used a speed rune and movement infusion to close all the gates asap. Then, I attacked the reaver. Followed by the archmage. Try to have only one of them able to target you at a time. Use summons as a distraction. Keep (ab)using speed boosts. I wouldn't have won if I didn't have a constant haste effect.

The sun paladin is kinda useless. Every time I made to the final battle she either got disabled quickly or started attacking me due to being blind. :/

@darkgod

Nice win!

My only winner was a Doomed, who used the Rune of the Rift to imprison one of the final bosses while the other one was getting Maddened by Agony and pounded by Willful Strike and Blast.

In the more recent Tome versions, I've tended to close all the portals with my Arcane blade before engaging the bosses.

Generally Targeted Phase door to 1st, movement infusion to 2nd, walk a few squares, Rush to 3rd (if spawning already), then PD to 4th.

I then swapped my Movement infusion for a Speed rune. Kill all excess non-boss monsters, then proceeded to used Phase Door, Rush, and Probability travel to fight only a single Boss at a time, keeping a wall between me and 1. Once the speed rune was used up, I swapped in a Insidious poison infusion to help deal with Regen on the 2nd boss.

Edit: Looking at your character, your resistances seem a bit low. It looks like the girdle of preservation is your only real resistance item. I'd suggest a minimum of about 50% resistance to the majority of damage types, especially the common elemental ones. It'll roughly double the amount of damage your heals/regens can handle in the long term. Not to mention make those 1500 hp feel like 3000.

With my Doomed winner, I used Feed (with Feed Strengths) on the main boss with 80% or so resist all, stole about half of it, then, with a +18 resist all amulet, I had 70% resist all, enough to tank through anything they could throw at me. I also kept the portals open to keep me supplied with weak enemies to keep up invigorate (+ global speed for 3 turns on kill).

My only two winners (many betas ago) both relied on Quake - which I got from eating the Sandworm heart. Use it when you're near the edge and you're more likely to generate a corridor, and eventually a "hockey stick" where you can hit them but they can't hit you. Also used the Rune of the Rift with both of them as well, not so much for the damage, but just to dissappear the opponent when I needed cooldowns and healing.
