Nasty kill

#1 Post by Tom »

Has anyone killed her?
Any particular reward for such an evil act?

No, but it's a good idea, I'll see about adding something evil :)
[tome] joylove: You can't just release an expansion like one would release a Kraken XD

BTW...

After dying down there a couple of times I thought, 'never again'.
Why kamikaze in a good game?

But it sux to let a woman in need die, no?
Yes!

This time, I went there for the first time with a character capable of doing distance damage.
Oboy, was it different from a melee character?

I REALLY REALLY f****d up, and still it was no match at all when I was finally lucky.

*DO NOT READ UNLESS YOU CAN TAKE MORE SPOILERS ABOUT THE FIGHT*

The first 4 levels are very easy for a lvl 29 archer.
POFF POFF and those otherwise very nasty elven spell caster just die.
A melee character has a MUCH harder life down there.
(At least a stealth rogue)

When I finally stepped down I had maxed my offensive powers.
Nothing useless defensive crap, now I went for the kill and only that.

One of those purle 'p' in sight and the timer started.
PINNED, MISS (ouch), SHOT, KILL
Timer went up to 21.
Move around the corner in 2 moves or something.
Next kill was as easy as the first kill.

Now came the serious mistake.
Beeing out of sight, I wanted to come over to the other side fast and I did....
TELEPORT.
*DUH*

I flew across the whole floor, over to the dungeon. :(
There in a room I was assaulted by those spellcasters.
Bonearmour and new teleport
No luck. Timer went slowly downhill. :(
Teleport
Teleport
Teleport.
I start to get desperate.
Lucky I found no less than 5 Teleportwands in this game so I have several of those ready.
Teleport

I think at my 6th or 7th Teleport I finally came back again.
Both acolytes in range and that was that.

Next time with a spellcaster or archer a Phase Door is probably much smarter a move than Teleport.
Note, a skeleton does not have MOVEMENT so that option was not possible here. That might be the best option for other races.

Question:
How many succeeded here with a melee char?
How did you manage to kill them in time?
My own thoughts are RUSH, and MOVEMENT, perhaps coupled with SPEED.

Tom

PS Right before leaving the cave we ran into a few nasties.
Exited and bloodthirsty I just fired away without noticing the female went into my firering line.
One arrow put her in 40% of her life, but luckily she did not die.
