Can't use infusions

Can't use infusions
I got ambushed by a bunch of adventurers and wasted several lives before giving up. Think they had a temporal mage or something, but during the fight they were putting my heal/regen infusions into a cooldown of one and I couldn't use them. What gives?
Re: Can't use infusions
Were you being stunned?
Re: Can't use infusions
Yes I was. And confused too. I was level 18 antimagic so basically getting slaughtered. I ended up giving up.
So no healing while stunned any more? That sucks

Re: Can't use infusions
Stun chooses several abilities at random to put on cooldown, which can include your infusions if you're unlucky.
I suppose this has the nasty side-effect of especially punishing those with few activated talents. Archmages on the other hand can laugh off having many of their less-used spells put on cooldown.

Re: Can't use infusions
The adventurer parties can be really quite brutal. You're basically outnumbered 3:1 by people who are as strong as you are. If the game chooses particularly deadly enemies, like Archers or Paradox Mages, you're kinda screwed.
That said, I wouldn't have chosen to tackle an adventurer party at level 18 without full, or nearly full, stun resist. If at all.

Re: Can't use infusions
It wasn't a choice. Just rounded a blind corner and there they were.
Re: Can't use infusions
If I recall correctly wild infusion with physics effect cure stun. Also for sure Providence talent(could be obtained from escort) and Timeless(if Shalore and stun less then tl*2)
Adventurers parties, especially high-level are more dangerous then orc patrols in far east now. I was one-shot range-killed by halfling who hit me with multishot straight through my damage shield for something more than 1.5k dmg - 4 criticals in one shot.

I would say it depends on what character you play.greycat wrote: That said, I wouldn't have chosen to tackle an adventurer party at level 18 without full, or nearly full, stun resist. If at all.
I found out that an archer LOVES meeting those parties around lvl 18.
I was lvl 19 myself and went around looking for them, and enjoying everytime I spottet and executed them in zerotime.
It is harder later on.

Re: Can't use infusions
Yep, same with my TW. Although I'd say they're mostly easy, except for the time when the barbarian rushes or the archer rapidshoots a bunch of crits... or like with the OP, the Paradox Mage strikes.

Re: Can't use infusions
Heh. Frankly, adventurer parties are always a gamble. I usually fight them when I see them, no matter what level I am, but then I try to hide the majority of the ambush map behind trees when I fight them, to stop the ones that can't see me from joining in. Gets a little easier when you do this, and even easier when you don't have to deal with something that's inimical to your character class. Was... kind of funny when my anorithil found an archer hiding behind a tree with Aim enabled. It couldn't shoot at me, but I roasted that archer. Heh.
Re: Can't use infusions
I love when you're an archer (missile weapon user in the most general sense), and their AI can't decide between running away and rushing (well, plodding toward) you. So they end up dancing back and forth while being peppered by arrows...
