Re: Special Items that appear in Lore (Gold and Orange Only)
Oranges are randarts, which are randomly-generated every game. Check out that thread for some of the more interesting ones. *sighs* I just had to go exploring the prides with my dwarf. Until he got Wintertide he was using a randart stralite mace "Phoenixwill" which (iirc) was a improved elemental stralite mace of ruin. It's in his fortress, but no way in hell is he getting back to the fortress with his blood of life resurrect used up, surrounded by idjit orcs with Bone Grab and other annoying teleports. Golds are artifacts, which do not get randomly-assigned attributes, and many of which can be found in the artifacts link. If you have ideas for artifacts (or egos), that's the place to suggest them.
Some of my favorite artifacts:
Wintertide (glittering longsword): Hooray ice damage!
Star (jagged blade): But only with its counterpart mentioned below, for rogues.
Moon (crescent blade): But only with its counterpart mentioned above, for rogues.
Golden Three-Edged Sword, 'The Truth' (three-edged sword): I can't really say no to a B5 reference, even if with its requisites, it's for Mindslayers who made it to Dreadfell/Reknor. But for mindslayers who made it there, it RAWKS.
Staff of Destruction (darkness infused staff): Very little is better than this for archmages in the west.

I love theese two, but I didn't know there are better together. How?
Or did I misunderstand your post?

Together they give off more light, do more dark/light damage and I think they can cause special status effects on hits.

Re: Special Items that appear in Lore (Gold and Orange Only)
Instead of just copying the code for Moon and Star, I'll just break it down in simple terms. :D
Separately, Moon is like this:
Damage = 30
APR = 30
Crit % = 10
Damage Modifiers = 45% Dexterity, 45% Cunning
You also get a bonus of 20 Darkness damage from the Melee Project and a 10% damage increased for Darkness Damage. Unfortunately, like it's lore states - "A viciously curved blade that a folk story says is made from a material that originates from the moon. Devouring the light abound, it fades." - it also reduces your light radius by 1.
Separately, Star is like this:
Damage = 25
APR = 20
Crit % = 20
Damage Modifiers = 45% Dexterity, 45% Cunning
You also get a bonus of 20 Light damage from the Melee Project and a 10% damage increase for Light Damage. Also, like it's lore states = "Legend tells of a blade, shining bright as a star. Forged from a material fallen from the skies, it glows." - it increases your light radius by 1.
Separately, these are clearly decent choices early and even up to mid game for classes that focus on dexterity and cunning [such as slingers, rogues, shadowblades, and perhaps summoners and anorthil [you'd be surprised]. Together, however, they really 'shine'. Haha!
Star and Moon, when paired:
They each get an additional 1 light radius, so with Moon giving +1 -1 = 0, and Star giving +1 +1 = 2, you come ahead with an additional 2 light radius than if you were to not have either equipped.
They also get an additional +10% damage increase to their respective damage types [Moon is now +20% to Darkness, and Star is now +20% Light].
On top of them each getting intrinsically stronger, they get a bonus power! Moon has a chance to Confuse an npc when striking, and Star has a chance to Blind an npc when striking.
This is a lot of value from two items, that multiple classes can find some use for. Sure, their base damage is slightly low compared to the other high end weapons and artifacts, but keep in mind the additional 20 damage melee project from each weapon [amounting to 40 additional damage], and the high crit and apr of each of them.
To make sure that you are getting the bonus when wielding both of them, check your game log for this message: "The two blades glow brightly as they are brought close together." You no longer get the bonus, when you remove them, and this message appears in your game log; "The light from the two blades fades as they are separated.".
Now then, a question - What's the point of this thread? :lol:

Re: Special Items that appear in Lore (Gold and Orange Only)
What is the item called that allows you to breathe underwater?
Re: Special Items that appear in Lore (Gold and Orange Only)
Any headgear "of the depths" will do the trick.
Re: Special Items that appear in Lore (Gold and Orange Only)
As well any amulet of the fish, but I seen more helmets of the depths than I seen amulets of the fish... haven't seen amulets of the fish in months.
Re: Special Items that appear in Lore (Gold and Orange Only)
Thanks for the info. so far I have no encountered any "of the Depths" or "of the Fish" items.

It goes like this:
White = no egos
Green = 1 or 2 minor egos
Blue = 1 major ego (with possibly a minor ego too)
Purple = 2 major egos
Orange = randart (which are generally made of 3 major egos, with duplicate egos allowed)
Yellow = predefined artifact (some are quest or story related, others just ones people have submitted on the forums - all of the descriptions on these count as lore)
Brown = Godslayer

Re: Special Items that appear in Lore (Gold and Orange Only)
What is this??? Never heard about such a thing. Can you link example with stat?Grey wrote:It goes like this:

Re: Special Items that appear in Lore (Gold and Orange Only)
There is currently but one Godslayer in the game, to my knowledge. Check out the inventories of some winners in the vaults if you want to know more.
Re: Special Items that appear in Lore (Gold and Orange Only)
Added a few more Yellows and Oranges.
Still need Unidentified names for "Choker of Dread", "Unstoppable Mauler" and a few others.
Note: I know about a few other Artifacts but am only listing Items I have discovered.

Re: Special Items that appear in Lore (Gold and Orange Only)
Oranges are really not worth listing - they are randomly generated each game, so you'll never see the same one twice. The list is technically infinite.
Re: Special Items that appear in Lore (Gold and Orange Only)
Grey that's a good point,I have removed all the Oranges.
