Finally managed to get to Far East and not die to random orc patrol within 20 turns, so went over to flooded cave to see what that was about. Didn't think to look at the lua files first, so went with the "rar, die, gimme your treasure" option and got cut out of another dungeon. In light of this, is there a far east map anywhere, so I and others new to the Far East can get a general hint of where the dungeons are? Don't want to end up being chased by 3 separate orc patrols, not knowing which little path I could take is a dead end.
Having satellite internet is a lot like relying on the processes described in those RFC's for your internet. Except, instead of needing to worry about statues interrupting your connection, this time you worry about the weather. I have satellite internet. Fun, no?

Chronomancer's staves, nimble armour, and boots of speed are your friends in the far east if you wish to avoid orc encounters. Invisibility runes are your friends if you wish to survive them with a weaker character (although orc patrols haven't been that bad for me recently). Also, some zones (like the flooded cave, I think) are semi-randomly located.

Yeah, wasn't too hard to find the flooded cave. And I've been surviving the patrols I've been forced into, but they tend to leave me at 30% health.
