Summoners

#1 Post by Dranwin »

Hey folks,

Hey I have a question thats been bugging me for a while about Summoners,

How much does willpower affect the summons themselves? As far as I can tell, the summons are not scaling as I raise willpower. The only reason I can see to raise willpower is for skill requirements. After I reach my requirements should I even bother continuing?

The main stats of your summons are based on your Willpower, e.g. Magic of the Fire Imp, and this determine their damage output.

You sure? It sounds like it should, but I have not noticed my imps damage raise since i've had it at level 5..willpowers gone up 30-40 points though

I just checked fire imps, and their magic statistic is strongly dependent on the summoner's willpower. The damage of a fire imp's bolt directly depends on their spellpower, which gets a bonus from magic. Should be fine...

The claim is that the imp's damage is based on the imp's spellpower, which is based on the imp's magic. The imp's magic, in turn, is based on the summoner's willpower. I know nothing about the realities, myself.

Thanks for the clear description, Sirrocco. This is what happens, at least in the case of fire imps.

I can confirm, increasing willpower increases the stats and damage of the summons.

Additionally, summons benefit from +elemental % gear as well. Throw on a few rings of burning, and your fire imps will do increased damage.

The skill level of a summon though seems to be where the largest gains in performance come from though.

O_o

Is that with Summon Control, or without, or both? Is that a bug or a feature?

I'm pretty sure it was mentioned in the change log files about 5 betas ago, and is a feature.

It's a feature, all Summoner's summons use increased damage of the caster.

Does that include physical? If I wear a dagger of massacre does that benefit my war hounds and minotaurs as well?

Does spellpower affect my summons at all? I am assuming not as summoners seem to not be a "magic" oriented class....but i wanted to double check.

No, spellpower only effects things that say that they are scaled by magic [and some that don't say it because the description lacks it.] A better way to check is - does the talent have a magic requirement to obtain it? If yes, then almost 100% of the time, it benefits from higher spellpower.
