How to put Telos's Staff together?

I managed to finally get the 3 components of Telos's staff, on my berserker of course. Just for fun I'd like to actually assemble the thing, but how does one do it?

The activation on the crystal suggests you can fuse it with a staff, but then when used, it asks for a complete staff in the inventory, of which neither the bottom half or the top half qualify alone. So...is there a way to fuse the top and bottom half first?

I believe that this confusion is the result of two different people submitting artifact ideas for Saruman's staff. In one idea, you find the staff crystal. You can then either carry the crystal around for the benefits it bestows or use it on any staff to turn that staff into Saruman's staff... or something like that.

An entirely separate idea was to have a Shade of Saruman unique who drops the two halves of Saruman's broken staff. These are each an artifact, and basically give mages a way to have meaningful one-handed staves.

In short, that staff crystal has nothing to do with the other two pieces. We should probably do some renaming.

It does feel as if there should be some pretty serious quest available, maybe offered by the Angolwen shop, to hunt for a tub of staff glue which was stolen by [insert suitable staff-glue stealers].

Well, since each broken piece of the staff is still coming in at 5 EN, it's pretty silly to have these one-handed staffs...

Why not combine the two?

You can combine the top and bottom half of the staff. Doing so will give you some additional benefits. You can combine the crystal with the top half, this will give you other additional benefits. Finally, you can combine all three, giving you a very powerful artifact.

point is that it lets you go staff and shield (or staff and dagger or... well... whatever).

Which is not to say that the idea of forging the three together into something awesome isn't a nifty idea.
