carn dum

#1 Post by Charlatan73 »

So made it down to level 7, there's no stair to level 8 and I've highlighed every square i can see. Did i hit a bug, or is the boss on a different level or something?

Also trying to figure out diggers. When i use on a square, nothing happens, even if i span 10 times or so. Are there only certain terrain types it works on? Been trying to dig out places on this level of carn dum with the hopes that a boss is embedded somewhere...

Diggers are still getting the bugs worked out.

As to the boss check your quest log (Q, I believe) and make sure it's not completed (it's possible a trap or something killed the boss).

checked the quest log and it's still showing as not complete.

Is the boss a digger type? I am wondering if I maybe killed it in a mountain square, which I can't access to pick up the loot and complete the quest.
This happened with the sand worm queen, where i had to wait for the burrowers to come back so I could get to the heart.

does finishing this quest gate anything?

A nice pair of boots.

And the quest completes when the creature dies. As to digging no, it's not a digger type.

So I don't know... try scrolls of enemies detect maybe?

Try exploring and detecting like mad. Sometimes, the boss will be caught in a buggy movement path and will try to reach you using negative coordinates, so he'll always be on the other side of the level.

Are there any way out other than the way I came in?

If you are playing beta15 (maybe beta14, cannot remember) and grabbed the Rod of Recall from Trollshaws then yes. Otherwise nope, it is a long (and dangerous) walk back.

The rod of recall isn't from the Trollshaws. And it first appeared in beta 13, I believe. Or maybe it was 12.

Is that still true? I haven't collected the trollshaws papers lately. Most recently I didn't because one of them was created in an unreachable spot!

rod of recall is now dropped by Bill in the Trollshaws. (15b?) For easier access...

If it's anything, it's svn. 15b doesn't have it.
