Wyrmics

#1 Post by Elliott »

I recognize why people consider them weak but... Wow. A few levels of Icy Skin is just staggeringly powerful against melee opponents. I assume the value of this shrinks substantially in the later game, but goodness. In Old Forest, with plate armor and 3 ranks in Icy Skin and level 8, he already doesn't need to pay attention to the monsters and if not for Frost Wolves, he wouldn't even need to attack them either. They all just die while doing zero damage. Where is the Queen Ant when I need her?

It seems weird that a talent could be this OP in the early game but then will probably be borderline useless in the late game.

Yeah, that sustain could be balanced a bit better. Rather than a flat increase, it could scale off of willpower.

25 armor at talent level 5, and that's without the heavy and plate armor you'll probably be wearing as well, is too much early game. Though I've never gotten there myself, apparently late game it isn't near enough.

not all classes are meant to be balanced with each other, wyrmics are powerful after lvl 4, but still late game with high damage and armor piercing they are weaker.

Oh, sure. I still haven't been east so my assumption was that stuff there hits hard enough to laugh at the piddly 40-50 armor you'd get even with it maxed (including armor). In a way, its a great class for someone who's brand new to the game and still learning the early dungeons because they just wreck a lot of the early stuff, while the relatively weak mobility and non-standard control would make them troublesome later in the game are a ways off from being a problem.

Well 50 armour is nothing to be sneered at, it's 50 of every single blow you get. On a 200 blow it's 25% damage reduction and this applies before any multipliers like crits or talents so that 600 damage critical stunning blow might become more like 400. That's huge

Ah, I didn't realize it applied BEFORE modifiers. So, its not useless, but compared with, say, Old Man Willow being unable to damage you in melee, it takes a big step down.
