I thought I would avoided this type of trouble by doing Amon Sul after leveling a bit, but 235 damage without a counter action and I'm STILL stunned! I didn't have this trouble with my berserker, it must be the lack of armor, defense, and physical resistance.
[edit] oh, I tried to attach a screenshot, but I guess it didn't work.

Re: Damn those skeleton warriors hit hard!
I just recently started playing this game and my first 3 characters met their demise in the starting woods/against the skeletons. I got bored and tried to do a different route with a ranger and instead of doing the starting woods i immediately exited and went to the old woods and it worked great. Went in as a level 1 and came out as a level 12, perhaps you could try something similar? honestly after i finished the old woods I was one hitting skeleton warriors and the maze is easy. I wonder if this game is supposed to be this easy...

Re: Damn those skeleton warriors hit hard!
Yeah, actually I did exactly that. If the image had worked it would show I was a level 12 mage with 236 hp (and I was at max). A skeleton warrior used stunning blow on me, then hit for 1XX damage, I missed a turn from stunning, then he hit me again for another 1XX damage killing me. I probably wasn't being as careful as I should have been since I thought it was going to be a cakewalk, but even so that's some harsh insta-death.EFox2413 wrote:I just recently started playing this game and my first 3 characters met their demise in the starting woods/against the skeletons. Re: Damn those skeleton warriors hit hard!
true, perhaps it's best avoided completely? I didn't really gain anything from it that i considered worthwhile.
Re: Damn those skeleton warriors hit hard!
I would advise for every class the sequence Trollshaws -> Old Forest -> Amon Sul (The order after these you pursue the Maze and the Sandworm Lair is mostly a playstyle thing IMO, and definitely leave Carn Dum to the end or even skip it. It's a dangerous place.). The only reason I'd suggest not doing Old Forest FIRST is that bears have a lot of HP and honey trees are more common; the downside to Trollshaws is the mountain troll thunderer -- you WILL die to this bugger the first time you see him....
Amon Sul is primarily beneficial for Angmar's Fall. It gives you access to Angolwen (after dancing above the Maze) if you're not an archmage, and it's a rather good staff if you are. Angolwen access otherwise is a tedious grind....

Re: Damn those skeleton warriors hit hard!
bears are easy if you have a stun and honey trees aren't that hard to avoid as long as you are playing cautiously. I just can't stand the layout of Trollshaws.
