You mean, the way it was about 4 betas ago? You had a Health skill which gave 40 HP (or was it 50) per raw talent point invested, and on top of that you had some +all% resist from your actual Con stat, which encouraged actually having high Con, rather than just temporarily boosting it, grabbing the skill, then letting it drop.
Burning a category point to unlock an otherwise useless tree because you have one skill that you'd like to access just feels wrong.
... you don't spend a category point on this. You spend 50 GP.

There's one or two classes that start with combat training locked, I think. That definitely needs to be changed, imo, to prevent that wasted cat point. Either have it unlocked or not there at all.

Incidentally, it'd be really nice if the warrior escort gave some other tree, as well, for the same reasons (it's even worse with the escort, though, as it gives you the tree at .7 mastery and locked -- buying later doesn't fix the mastery). Going to make small thread on that, now :P

Though, that does matter in the arena or the infinite dungeon. Perhaps everyone should just get combat training unlocked in those.

Yes. It's bizarre that sages and not warriors give disarm.
