quite lucky I think

#1 Post by martinuzz »

To compensate a bit for failing the lost merchant's quest, my level4 Dunadan berserker just got...
... slime talent tree, after drinking only 10 potions of slime mold juice !!!

So I wonder... Is it worth putting points into it, to get the slimy roots?
The stun for 4 rounds seems somewhat harsh..

With more points in the talent, does it provide teleportation control, and does the stun duration decrease?

it always gives teleport control and the stun is reduced some after putting points into it

At least at level 1, the teleport control isn't all that good. On the other hand, at least in the early game, the acidic skin damage shield can be quite handy for some character types.

Basically, you want to consider the following questions on the acid skin
- Are you investing in Willpower already for some other reason?
---- if you're not, the stat investment likely isn't worth it even if the skill investment is
- Are you a character who gets hit in melee a lot?
---- if not, it does you little to no good
- Do you have the spare generic points in your build concept?
---- Personally, I like to have at least vague build plans for my characters from level 1. Some characters crave generic talent points, and never have enough. Others eventually just run out of things to do with them. Acid skin isn't tremendously powerful, but it is useful. If you've got nothing else to do with the points, it's a useful thing to do with the points. It does compete for points with the antimagic tree, if you're going antimagic, but there are some characters that *still* have a lot left over.
- Are you expecting to make it to endgame?
---- The slime damage doesn't scale on anything except points spent, and it doesn't scale well on that. If you'd really like to run Tol Falas some day, then it's going to be quite helpful in getting you there. If you consistently finish off the prides without much difficulty, then you're likely to eventually consider those points pretty much wasted.

imho i have found willpower essential for berserkers due to the stamina gains.
one of the uber skills for a 'zerker is Unstoppable, which has a whopping 170 stamina cost.

Seconding the acid skin for characters above. If you are going to get high level antimagic or if you are a summoner or wyrmic then this is worth extensive boring store-scumming to get.
