You either are 1) Blind like you say or 2) Haven't looked everywhere. In the two branches going to the left and right, going left there is a * , bump it and it will continue the quest.

If you are playing with the graphics enabled, you enter a something that looks exactly like a closed door. Which might be the reason you thought yourself blind.
This should change with the next version (already in SVN).
