Backup guardian

#1 Post by paboperfecto »

How can we find the backup guardians that were mentioned in the release notes. Are they always on the last level so there are two bosses or do we need to wander around in the dungeon (currently I'm in Amon Sul) up and down the stairs for a while until they are generated?

I believe they are placed in the respectable dungeons when you come back from the Far East.

There are two separate entries though:
*When the player comes back from the far east some of the zones he visited and vanquished the boss in the west will be updated with a new boss (only if the previous guardian has been killed before going east). This currently affects the Moria, Old Forest, Trollshaws and Tol Falas
* Added backup guardian to the Maze
* Added a backup guardian to the sandworm lair
* Added backup guardian to Amon Sul
* Added a backup guardian to Carn Dum

I'll check the code in a couple hours and get back to you.

It's the same code for both of those lists and it does check if you've gone east before putting the backup guardian in play. My guess is that it was separate release notes, first the ability was added to do that with the original four dungeons mentioned and then others were added at some point later in time.

On my way down to Level 7 of a dungeon I came across a new unique with the 'boss' label on Level 4 (b13) - half-expected a GWOP to appear ...

Was it a mold? The new mold boss isn't too bad, as long as you have phase door. He would teleport me next to him, I would teleport away, get close enough in to blast him once or twice, then get teleported. Lather, rinse, repeat.

It was standing by a corner so didn't get the chance to do anything. I quite enjoy the inventive targetting you can achieve in T4, especially in the wooded landscapes, moving the endpoint around to hit X, Y and Z with the same squoosh - it's been there underneath, but you had to use 'skill and judgement' or in truer words 'fingerprints on the monitor from counting grids' :)
