Pyromaniac Wizard: 1 Orcs: 0

So, I know it's out of date (as I accomplished this on version 10,) but I managed to wipe out the orc ambush. Bwahaha.

As the Vampire Master's final remains dissolved into nothingness, I thought to myself, "Whew. Glad that's over," and without thinking went onto wipe out a few wights before a thought crossed my mind: "I wonder if he had any loot?"

Going back to check, I found a very eerie looking staff. It looked quite powerful, so much so in fact that I suspected someone might have planted it as bait for a trap. As a precaution, I quaffed a potion of invisibility and then a potion of free action before teleporting back...

But as I was wandering through non-space, I popped up in a most bizarre location. A pack of orcs, lined up in regiment, all swords and bows pointed in my general direction! Oh, what shall I do?

Well, being invisible, I phased myself behind a tree so I could get a clear view of their glorious orcish backsides. And then, I did what any self respecting mage would do.

I made fire.

A lot of fire.

BAM! A flameshock lashed out and stunned the nearest half dozen or so!
WHOOSH! The inferno set the very earth at their feet ablaze! The entire clearing practically glowed. And as that was not enough...
KABOOM! A raging fireball tore through their ranks!

I paused and looked. Many of them were still standing, albeit heavily singed. Crap...

Chain Lightning arced out, finishing off a number, then another cluster of blackened forms became one with the singed earth. I worked quickly. Manathrust! Flame! Lightning! These three spells over and over at whatever orcs remained and looked closest...

Before too long, all that remained was the big orc. He scowled at me. I scowled back and flamed him. He dropped dead. I was alone, with a pile of blackened booty, including a rather lovely bow. Boo yah.

So, basically, one trick to beating the orcs is to get really good at the area-affecting pyro spells, along with maxing out manathrust and lightning, with some in chain lightning as well. That was fun.
