Boom.

Orc corruptor uses Soul Rot.
Orc corruptor hits Galena for 519.30 blight damage.
Orc corruptor killed Galena!

So, yeah. Looks like I've got a new least favourite OOD enemy now. Bet the Master was thankful that mook was ambling around his house.

Yeouch.
I met my first big green U - major demons are not fun (didn't take a look at its level, wasn't really paying attention... was in the old forest, finished me off just after i'd taken down old man willow)

That'll teach me for being complacent, and i'll watch out for those corruptors too...

Oh yeah, I met one of those big green Us. Mollegs or gollegs or something similar - gave me a run for my money!

The sad thing about the corruptor was that if I was at my full 700HP I would have survived... for another turn at least. Previously he had used his withering/weakening curse to encumber me to the spot. My last action was dropping some plate armour so I could move again :)

At a somewhat lower caliber of aggravation, poison trap + escort quest = "huh, why did the NPC just disappear?"

Also, aren't escorted npcs supposed to follow you, well BEHIND the front line? They keep going kamikaze with their tiny health, attacking monsters even not in sight, making almost impossible to defend them (especially if you have no ranged attack at your disposal).

Actually they're supposed to make a beeline for the portal and randomly give the player a chance to rest every so often.

I checked out their AI last night after I had one that was standing still for a few turns charge ahead of me in the middle of my rest cycle. By the time I interrupted my rest and got sense cast to track it down it was at 2 hit points.

Yes they move by themselves to spice things up :)
They only divert from their path to the portal if there are foes in sight.

Having taken a shot at half dozen or so escort quests, I'm going to say "kudos". They're perfectly variable. Sometimes easily doable, sometimes they're invitations to get yourself killed (got one on the Old Forest(3) where the first big room the escortee ran into was worth an entire level of exp gain. Needless to say, the poor alchemist didn't survive), and sometimes they're just maddening (Trollshaws(1) should have been cake, but the bone-head stepped on a poison trap and there was nothing I could do about it. On Carn Dum(6), which I expected to be a death trap, the Loremaster got one step away from the portal when an ice drake breathed cold and killed him from what felt like a mile away). IMO, they're exactly how they should be. Might make sense to scale up their health and abilities a bit., especially if they're East as well (still haven't been there), but generally I love them.

I do feel the rewards are probably a bit too good. Really, you shouldn't be able to get more than 1 stat point, imo, and while I'm on the fence about allowing it to give a point in a talent you have access to but aren't eligible for yet (I'm against it, but I guess I could be talked into it) you REALLY shouldn't be able to get points in talents in Schools you don't even have access to.

One frustrating thing that happened to me was that the person I was trying to escort decided to take on a den of snakes by herself. Since it was in one of those winding passage ways, and I was a summoner, there wasn't anything I could really do about it.

Worried lore master? More like suicidal...

And stupid. "Oh look, I'm on a tile adjacent to the recall portal. I think I'll go help my friend here against this mountain troll, despite the fact that I have 62 hp, and the troll has 4x that, and my friend doesn't need my help. Would be VERY nice for those situations (especially when I can't "accidentally" shove him/her/it into the portal) if the escort person knew when to head into the portal rather than stay and fight.
Having satellite internet is a lot like relying on the processes described in those RFC's for your internet. Except, instead of needing to worry about statues interrupting your connection, this time you worry about the weather. I have satellite internet. Fun, no?
